njpilot 671 Posted August 21, 2014 I have a friend who is a novice shooter who would like an inexpensive AR. Although very handy, he isn't interested in building one, just wants something like those S&W deals we've seen posted here from Tanners lately. Anyone aware of any right now? Thanks. 9X19 125 Posted August 21, 2014 Thanks Steve. He wants to buy out of state. Why? Plenty of affordable AR's here in NJ. Support the local guys, or they won't be there when you need them.

njpilot 671 Posted August 21, 2014 Hey. I buy locally. My friend is one who would rather buy long guns across the border so there is no paperwork here in NJ. Others on this forum have suggested that. His prerogative.
remixer 1,645 Posted August 21, 2014 Yep it is His prerogative, im just having a little fun as i never heard that before
BlueLineFish 615 Posted August 21, 2014 Just because he buys in PA you think they wouldn't have the info id nics kept it. If you buy in jersey there is no record of serial numbers for long guns

njpilot 671 Posted August 22, 2014 There is paperwork on file with serial numbers at FFLs. I'm not here to argue with anyone. Others on this forum have suggested it in the past as well. He wants to do it, he can do it. If it makes him feel better, whatever.
mipafox 438 Posted August 25, 2014 Just because he buys in PA you think they wouldn't have the info id nics kept it. If you buy in jersey there is no record of serial numbers for long guns If you buy in PA there is no serial number, make or model in PICS. Both states will have all of the information in the FFL's bound book. I would think when NJ finally goes full retard they will be checking NJ FFL bound books but probably not PA bound books. That being said, NJ is not a free state. If there are problems in NJ then leave. Matter of fact, there are problems, so leave.

Buy in NJ or PA makes no difference. If you purchased from a dealer its logged and recorded. I bet the I will not Comply guy thought he was safe in PA also

They have no clue what kind, Caliber or Serial your firearm is, They also dont know if you picked up a single shotgun or 35 ar's.

It has been suggested by others... its a bit paranoid but still has been talked about. 3. Exactly......
ogfarmer 138 Posted August 25, 2014 I think ops friend is refering with the chatter about the separate book being kept by some FFLS for the so called assault weapons.
FishHunter 0 Posted August 25, 2014 I just purchased a NJ compliant mp1522 from Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore in Ohio for $370 - shipped. Also picked up an extra 10rd mag for $15 and a BullDog soft case for $15. Unfortunately they did not have any ammo.
