Verizon wireless free data upgrade

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this is a know hing but I saw it on another forum. I believe it is for family share plans

I was paying for 6gb of data. I called up and told them I wanted the free upgrade to ten gb for the same price and she did it

I am assuming if you now have 4 GB it would go to 6 or 8 gb.

Post back your results. This is big for me because near the end of the month we are always close to 6 GB

Just called up and got it.  Had the family share 6GB for $80 plan and swapped it out for the 10 GB for $80.  Since our cycle just started on 10/29 they back dated it and the change will show up on next months bill as a credit for the old plan and a charge for the new, which being the same will balance out to the same monthly price.

Most people don't use near that much data. I have AT&T. I saved $40 a month by getting family share. Unlimited text and talk. 2 gigs of data. I have not come close to using anywhere near that much between the wife and I. I'm the power user that would need it.

I made this decision after asking them to analyze my account. Even when I was away for 2 weeks and still never reached limits. 1 week I was in a wifi home. 2nd week, had no wifi. I know mine is not Verizon, but data is data. If you have family share, have them analyze your whole account. Find out where you use most your data. You may actually find you can downgrade your data account and save money. Also, if you are AT&T, there are fan discounts in services. For example, if you are a Harley Member, you save 18% off some services on your bill. Belong to something or work for a specific company? Ask if you get any discounts.

I went to my account.... but I only have the 2GB plan...... and I never even come lose to using that, even with 3 phones on plan.....    But I saw no free upgrade....

May not be labeled as "Free Upgrade" I think they just changed their price structure but are not telling anyone who is paying more or the same price for less data.

In  my situation, I was paying $90 for a 8 GB family share plan.  Now they offer a 10 GB for $80.  That's 2 more GB for $10 less than what I was paying.  I simply "changed" my plan, that's how I got the "free" upgrade.

How the eff are you guys using so much data?? Holy shit. I barely use 1G a month. Am I not watching enough porn on my phone?

As a matter of fact I just realized last month I was paying for 2G and overpaying. I just lowered mine to 1G

My phone is essentially my internet connection while I'm at work. I work at an institution with a very restrictive Internet policy and the bandwidth is unbearably slow as well. My phone is in wireless hotspot mode all day while I do my internet stuff on my laptop. Watch a few YouTube videos each day and you can be easily hitting several gigs a month.

I routinely go through 5 gigs a month and sometimes am sweating it close to 6 gigs near the end of the billing cycle. Bumping up to 10 gigs is a big deal for me, thanks for sharing Tom!

I found this on a pop up camper forum I belong to. I'll pass on the thanks. Lol. This is good for me because I too was coming close to the 6 GB a month mostly because my wife didn't realize when she would give the kids her phone in the car to watch stuff there was no wifi!

All you guys who are on wifi often or at hotspots. You guys do know to set your apps to point to wifi first and not cellular.

Again. I can't see how you all are pulling so much CELLULAR data. Not data, but cellular data.

I mean are you watching YouTube vidoes in your car? If you are at home or work point that shit to wifi.

Do you guys known how to audit your devices to know what apps are pulling the most data? Just set those to wifi only. I'm still flabbergasted at how much cellular you guys pull.

    • I have recently updated (clean install) to Windows 10 Pro from 7.  This PC is a desktop without a touchscreen, is not on a domain, the user account is a full administrator account, not the default limited "administrator" account, and the user account is a local account.  On at least Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7, Server 2003, and Server 2008, when users are required to enter CTRL ALT DEL to log in/unlock, and a screensaver is active when trying to unlock the PC, pressing CTRL ALT DEL will immediately deactivate the screensaver and bring up the password prompt.  On Windows 10, same scenario, pressing CTRL ALT DEL only deactivates the screensaver, acting like simply any other key press and only showing the lock screen, forcing users to press CTRL ALT DEL a second time to get the password prompt. Besides the fact that Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom, constantly "improves" "features" by making them worse or more annoying, am I missing something?  I just want CTRL ALT DEL to work as it has for the last 20 years - pressing any key should instantly deactivate the screensaver, and CTRL ALT DEL should immediately bring up the password prompt on a locked PC.  Netplwiz > Require users to press CTRL ALT DEL - checked GPEdit > Do not display the lock screen - Enabled or disabled has had no effect, have not found any other relevant settings Screen Saver Settings - On Resume, display login screen - checked (no difference if unchecked) Don't think I've done anything in regedit that would have any effect on this. Settings>Personalization>Lock Screen > Show lock screen  background picture on the sign-in screen set to "off" It is possible I've missed or messed with something in "Settings" somewhere, but nothing stands out in my memory.   So is this just a new "feature" I have to retrain 20 years worth of habits, or is there some stupid setting I am missing?  Google has been utterly useless so far.
    • The new jl can fit 35's stock. Don't even need a lift.  My 2014 required 2" of lift and flat fenders. ROCK Krawler springs and tetraflex trackbars plus their upgraded steering links. I stayed low CG and spent the money on full belly skid system from rock hard 4x4.
    • I have a 2016 Jeep JK unlimited and love it, even more than all the pickup trucks I’ve owned. Being able to lock things up with the hardtop also played a role in that. Plus being able to take the top and doors off is golden, not to mention the true off-road capabilities
    • I have owned nothing but jeeps.  If you've never owned a wrangler and just want something to have fun with you'll be happy.  If you're looking for a daily driver or commuter vehicle, get a Kia.
    • Posted today on their FB page ... We had our final inspections today. We have to fix a few small things but we will be ready for re-inspection early next week. After that just waiting on our governor....
