I just got my FID for long guns, although I don't know anything about guns or ammo. What is a good gun to get my hands on that will help me learn more but won't break the bank, at the same time being ideal at home defense?

The Coalition of New Jersey Firearm Owners is proud to announce we've scheduled our first Hog Hunt of the new season for Sunday January 26th. So mark your calendars and watch for our event page & sign-up on our website (coming SOON!). The guided Hunt is ideal for beginners & anyone looking for a challenge since this is a "NO license, ANY weapon" affair held on a 150 acre island in the middle of the Susquehanna River near Harrisburg, PA. Raffles, swag, lunch included. Stay Saturday night & party with us (Dutch Treat) OR come Sunday. A great way to fill the freezer & support NJ's busiest 2A group!
Hunt includes hot lunch served on the island, field dressed hog, goody bag w/ swag items, raffles for great prizes (BRING CASH ON ISLAND) & all the memories you can take home!
We recommend V. Roche & Son Butchers in Whitehouse Station, NJ. A CNJFO sponsor, they have a renowned reputation for excellent service!

For anyone who has the least interest in black powder, or who appreciates exceptional craftsmanship, Dixon's Gunmakers' Fair is happening this weekend:
http://www.dixonmuzzleloading.com/
An amazing display of hand-made black powder rifles and pistols, mostly flinters, and an impressive schedule of seminars for those who want to build their own or just learn more. Kid-friendly, and food trucks are available for lunch. It's not that far (exit 40 off 78 I believe), and it really is a one-of-a-kind event. It runs Friday - through Sunday, and there are vendors from all over the country showing their wares. There is also a competition for hand-built guns, horns, etc. Truly incredible what amateurs can do given enough time and direction. It's free, but you will need to pay for parking. I go every year and it is a "must do" event for me. Hope to see you there!

Just to be clear, the 30-day rule between purchases is for handguns only, right? And that purchase would have no effect on buying a long gun?
So if I legally used one of my handgun P2Ps yesterday, I could legally buy a long gun today and tomorrow and every day between now and doomsday and I'd be legal? I just want to make sure the rule isn't 30 days between "any" gun purchases.
Thanks.

You know nothing about me lol. I frequently watch auditors and call out bad policing when I see it. Im not even agreeing what the cop did was the perfect decision. The point I'm making is that an atv at that speed hitting a person on a path would kill someone. Freedom doesn't include breaking the law and endangering the life of people walking by. He's free to do that dumb sht where he can legally do so. If the atv driver is going so fast he can't avoid a cop car, then he certainly can't stop before hitting a person. I gurantee if your son or daughter was hit by some moron on an atv and paralyzed for the rest of his life, you wouldn't be complaining about "big brother." So you acted like a responsible adult. Why would you write this guy a free pass? Not terribly logical. -

Nope. I was 2 wheel kind of guy. I always had complete control of my dirt bike, and never injured anyone, let alone tried to murder anyone -

Ok, the top speed of the Yamaha Banshee 350 2-stoke was the fastest ever ATV manufactured. It was 68 mph. This was not a Banshee. It was a run of the mill ATV with a top speed average of 40 mph. On payment, the cop car could easily keep up and pull over the ATV. 40mph in a car is unassuming . Attempted murder was not necessary. But again, should murder by cop be justified because you were speeding? You guys don't realize it, but you are CINO's. Which is conservative's in name only. You buy a gun and think you are conservatives or constitutional conservatives, but in reality you are indoctrinated liberals that are all for big government, big brother, and support all of it. -
Looking for one in like new/new condition. Please PM me if you have one for sale.
