Bubba-NJ 0 Posted September 3, 2015 What do you guys and girls prefer for shooting an AR or a 10/22 from a bench while seated? A bi-pod or sand bags? Can't seem to make up my mind as to which to get. Thanks for your opinions.
Dr.Jimmy Rustler 23 Posted September 3, 2015 on my tacticool guns i just lean on my ammo can or range bag, for my scoped rifles i use a bipod
ChrisJM981 924 Posted September 3, 2015 Sandbag rest. Stationary bi-pod is a pain. I haven't tried one that swivels, but I assume a tiny flinch might throw off your shot.
Displaced Texan 11,769 Posted September 3, 2015 I prefer bags. I have a couple from Caldwell Shooting supply that I really like. To me, bi pods on a bench are a pain in the ass. Prone, maybe, but I prefer to shoot off my ruck while in that position.
ChrisJM981 924 Posted September 3, 2015 Wooden benches have a tendency to grab the bi-pod, so making a slight adjustment requires you to lift the rifle and reposition, otherwise you're fighting the tension(for lack of a better term) created when you twist the rifle. Like said above, it's a pain in the ass.

ChrisJM981 924 Posted September 3, 2015 I run 2 Harris SBRM s that tilt with a level with good results. I like the 6-9" swivel bi-pod with the notched legs. That would work well on my S&W 15-22.

NickySantoro 211 Posted September 3, 2015 I learned to shoot in the rifle pits at Fort Dix in 1968. Can't beat sandbags as a stable rest.

Krdshrk 3,878 Posted September 4, 2015 ive used the vanguard porta aim with pretty good results.. Have one of those - works great. Light and portable, collapses down so it fits in my range bag. I put a bipod on my Savage Axis - works ok but yes you do have to lift to adjust.
