Rob0115 1,107 Posted February 4, 2016 I was looking at the gun online for CCW. 7 or 8 rounds 9MM with ported barrel and fiber optic sights. Has anyone handled one of these? My LGS in FL doesn't have one but I can get it on GB for 519 list price and shipped down. http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product4_750001_750051_841090_-1_780153_757781_757781_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y
Purple Patrick 638 Posted February 4, 2016 That looks awesome dude. I have the standard model and it's a great carry piece, the stock sights suck so those will be a major upgrade. The sights are A BITCH to get off. Seriously I bent my sight pusher getting mine off Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

I ask because personally I stay away from anything ported for a gun I plan on carrying because the flash at night may temporarily blind me.

Besides that it's stock and will probably stay that way unless I try and stipple it. I have a n82 pro holster coming in to for it to try out Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

I ask because personally I stay away from anything ported for a gun I plan on carrying because the flash at night may temporarily blind me. Good questions to think about above. Fishnut hit the porting right on the head. $519.00 plus fees for the performance center shield. $389.00 for A standard Shield. $39.95 for A Dawson precision FO Sight. (You can install. Or $15- $20 for a Gunsmith to do it.) 430.00 plus transfer and you lose the ported barrel, Which is not A deal breaker. Unless you really want it. The only other improvement after running A few hundred rounds thru it , Would be An Apex trigger kit.($79.00) The Performance center gun still has the S&W trigger. Which A lot of people like anyway. My Shield is carried as described with the Apex kit. It is the only striker fired gun in my safe, with many Sigs. Which ever way you go, The Shield will serve you well. Rob0115 1,107 Posted February 5, 2016 It's a carry gun so ditch the porting and get a regular one?
Purple Patrick 638 Posted February 5, 2016 It's a carry gun so ditch the porting and get a regular one?Yep. Get a regular one and a set of sights and feel it out for yourself. They shoot really nice Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
Rob0115 1,107 Posted February 5, 2016 I can get the regular one pretty cheap at about 350. I use Dawson sights on some Glocks and I like them, maybe check out the tru-glo.
KyleKap19 3 Posted February 5, 2016 Just installed the APEX trigger kit on mine -- waiting on new sights too. Trigger work wasnt hard at all, and I'm simply a youtube gunsmith

Trigger work wasnt hard at all, and I'm simply a youtube gunsmith Same here, I installed 10-8 sights, the APEX trigger/duty/carry kit, undercut the trigger guard and stippled mine a few weeks ago. Love it!

Purple Patrick 638 Posted February 5, 2016 Wood burning tool, Sir. Have to touch it up a bit.It looks really good. I saw a guy who is making custom tips just for stippling instead of having to make your own. Name is escaping me at the moment Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Name is escaping me at the moment Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk Thank you. I bought a set of accessory tips along with the burning tool from AC Moore lol. I tried the larger dot stipple on a removable grip from my Beretta 90-Two. It was too aggressive. Ordered another grip and tried the smaller dot pattern. Didn't like it either. Tried the tree bark type texture you see above and loved it. So I did my M&P9 FS and Shield in that pattern.

fishnut 2,358 Posted February 5, 2016 Alex- looks really good I like that stippling pattern . I will do my shield soon, how do you like the undercut? I also see you prefer the extended mag, I can't shoot guns where my pinkie cant fit on the grip. I have all extended mags for my shield. I think my regular mag is still in the box on a shelf. Gunnz 49 Posted April 22, 2016 Picked up a performance center shield this evening, can't wait to get it too the range! I have other M&P series pistols, and the trigger feels amazing right out of the box. No apex work required on this bad boy.
Rob0115 1,107 Posted April 22, 2016 I carry a shield with green laser integrated into trigger guard. Great piece.
