fishnut 2,358 Posted July 7, 2016 I've had shotgun shells rolling around the floor of my jeep since December and I have no plans on taking it out untill pheasant season. As long as they are not hollow points your good to go
Howard 538 Posted July 7, 2016 In a package out of the driver's reach should not be an issue EXCEPT if it is that super deadly Hollow point stuff - then NO!
dino71 4 Posted July 7, 2016 Don't they sell hollow point rounds at the gun stores in NJ?
DirtyDigz 1,812 Posted July 7, 2016 Don't they sell hollow point rounds at the gun stores in NJ? Yes, but NJ law restricts where you can possess them. The quickest "rule of thumb" for hollow point ammo is to treat each round as a little handgun. You can possess them where it's legal to buy them, legal to shoot them, at home, at a business you *OWN* with a fixed location, or traveling directly between one of those locations. Outside of those exempted locations, it is illegal to possess them. One special note is that there is currently no exemption for traveling with hollow points directly from one home to another home. It's a hyper-technical violation, but it is the violation that turned Brian Aitken into a felon.
T Bill 649 Posted July 7, 2016 For you reloaders, the bullet is what matters, not the loaded ammo, so same rules apply.

Be careful that your employer doesn't have any guidelines as to not allowing firearms and related stuff like ammo on premise(if they have their own property with a lot)...if its seen or if an employee doesn't like you and knows about it rats you out, can lose your job. Golf battery 1,223 Posted July 9, 2016 Are hollow point long rifle ammo under the same guidelines as pistol caliber ammo.
DirtyDigz 1,812 Posted July 9, 2016 Are hollow point long rifle ammo under the same guidelines as pistol caliber ammo. Yes, there is no distinction. Hollow point is hollow point, regardless if used in long arm or handgun.
Old School 611 Posted July 9, 2016 OMG Sierra Match Kings are killer bullets. But sierra told me not to use them on game because they wouldn't expand. What a bunch of NJ Bull Shit!
sroc112 24 Posted July 9, 2016 I was told shotgun rounds labeled as hollow point were ok, making it see, they did not fall into the same bucket as handgun ammo.
PK90 3,573 Posted July 9, 2016 2C:39-3f(1) Any person who knowingly has in his possession any hollow nose or dum-dum bullet, is guilty of a crime of the fourth degree. "hollow nose bullet" No powder, no primer and no casing need be present. Handgun, Rifle or Shotgun. It does not matter.
