Sig P320 wins Army MHS

Recommended Posts

Well, Glock filed a protest 3 days ago and the GAO decision is due June 5th.

No idea what aspect they protested. I wonder if we will see anymore protests.

Clearly debriefs are happening.

ETA: Sounds like Glock is stating that their submission performed better on all tests, but Sig won on price alone.

FWIW, I now carry the P320SC as EDC.  I like it, much.

Although, I gather this has more to do with politics and $$$ (as in, who gets the contract).   I can't believe it's a "Buy American" thing since both companies are foreign firms and both have a US HQ location.

What does Glock have to protest?

I don't know what Glock submitted but I doubt it was anything modular. Army wanted modular frames and manual safeties. Glock had neither.

In fact, Sig was the only one with a modular frame.

Not for nothing but last time the Sig p226/228 won overall but they chose the Beretta 92/m9 based on price. Sig learned from that and this time around submitted exactly what they were looking for at a price they liked. Not sure what Glock's issue is but if anyone there thought price wasn't gong to be a deciding factor, they haven't been paying much attention.

IIRC, no manual safety on a Glock.

Sent from an undisclosed location

Exactly.

Is this arrogance? "Our gun is better so you should accept it even though it isn't what you want"

If you read HE link in the comments.( at least when I did) some were suggesting that the glock version submitted had a manual safety.

This protest is akin to" can I ask you to reconsider, maybe we can work something out"

Or, the testing was bias, and they have evedince.

Okay.. I didn't

Still, Sig was the only one with a "modular" frame.

I think the modular frame is a stupid idea for the Military anyway. I wanted S&W to win.

Fair point ^^^

There is no perfect gun for the job. Glock guys will say Glock perfection. S&W guys will say chpose American. And so on and so forth. But at the end of the day, they DID NOT choose a Hi-Point or Bersa so it's really a moot point.
