1 pointUh-oh. Is this thread drift? LOL. If so, sorry to drift into even deeper waters...but the fact is, though marijuana has been shown to be less impairing than alcohol, we simply don't know its full impact, for instance, on traffic fatalities. States like Colorado have done a piss-poor job of tracking this --- some of their coroners test for it, others don't, etc. --- they are so slipshod in their approach, it's ridiculous... and it makes me wonder if these initial reports coming out are seriously underestimating the issue. Cynically, some think these states are all too happy to look the other way on any negatives, because the pot trade is such a huge revenue-generator for them. Personally, I don't have a vested interest one way or the other, so I'm just going to go where the facts lead me. So far, there does seem to be early indicators showing that more people using (and testing at much more potent levels too) may be contributing to a spike in traffic fatalities. (Thinking logically... is that really such a shocker?) I guess it's just one more thing to factor into the legalization pros/cons list: http://www.denverpost.com/2017/08/25/colorado-marijuana-traffic-fatalities/

1 pointUnless someone can present a credible case that increased Marijuana use results in increased crime, DUIs, illnesses, medical/insurance costs, etc. etc. etc. or that it is proven to be a "gateway" drug to the hard stuff. So far, I haven't seen one yet but I think more study is in order. We'll see what happens in the states where one or both are, presently, legal. There are some that argue that legalizing (and taxing) recreational Marijuana might actually reduce some crime (i.e. the illegal trafficking, sale, etc. of it and the results of all that activity). That might be balanced by some increases in petty theft as people try and "creatively finance" their purchases of it, or attempt to grow their own (assuming it would still be illegal to do that), or deal with the backlash that comes from the "illegal" trade trying to fight to keep their business. This, as well as any net increase in Motor Vehicle issues (DUI), but, hopefully, no worse than those we have presently with Alcohol. I think it would be hypocritical for society to keep weed illegal for those "safety" reasons when, in turn, it tolerates Alcohol and all it's problems. Personally, AFAIC, the jury is still out on both Medical and Recreational Pot. I would welcome any therapeutic value it might have in re: the treatments for seizures, glaucoma, oncological issues, etc. etc, but there needs to be a bit more history of success in those regards (and lack of problems). I'm also not yet convinced in re: Recreational weed, either. There needs to be much more study and history that it *doesn't* result in increased "problems...." certainly no net gain over the present level with Alcohol/Tobacco. Having been an EMT in a previous life (and a PIT) and having to bring several junkies out of some rather expensive highs (and taking a lot of $h!t for it - "HEY I PAID $$$ FOR THAT HIGH!!!"), it will take quite a bit of convincing. I probably won't partake, personally, if it is legalized (I never smoked Tobacco and haven't had any alcohol that I recall in more than 5 years), unless my doctor were able to convince me that it would be the one and only treatment available for whatever was ailing me a the time. That's a lot of convincing.

1 pointRegardless of what other "laws" are passed, my firearms are staying with me. Done

1 pointEh I've never worried about breaking the post. There are rail height and gas block height. Most ar's will use rail height unless you have a railed gas block. The co witness will matter on the height of your optic mount. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

1 pointDoesn't matter. If you can tell the difference between HK and M4 type front BUIS, you aren't doing doing it right....
-
1 pointI have both. I prefer the m4. I don't like the curved post guards for some reason. Just preference Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

1 pointSCOTUS said you can't ban them outright. They didn't say anything about background checks/permits before purchase, restricted/no carry, restrictions on power output etc. etc. I want them to be unrestricted, I'm hoping they'll stay essentially unrestricted, but I think you're too sanguine if you think the laws will stay as currently proposed.

1 pointThey can craft whatever restrictions they want outside of an outright ban and wait for the next governor. There's nothing preventing them from enacting legislation after October.

1 pointCongrats. I couldn't believe the prices they were going for. 10 years ago they were $700. 350% increase in price is a lot, but the demand must be there. How many are estimated to be out there? Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

1 pointAfter watching the fight say hello to Mr. Mueller! The FBI is watching that link also!
-
1 pointYeah, they are grown up LEGOs. Part of the reason the LaRue rifles are so desirable is the accuracy of their barrels. Swapping it would nullify the whole reason for the purchase of this particular rifle.

1 pointI just spent all day on the range with some of the best carbine instructors and shooters on the planet. I did a 4 hour block on intermediate distance Carbine (300 yards). No one had a RDS and magnifier combo. A handful of us shot with plain RDS (I ran a 2MOA T1). Everyone else had low power magnified optics. At 300 yards I was faster with my RDS than a lot of guys with magnification. Those are all clues.
-
1 pointI have several - they work ok but I'll stick with the blocked pmags from MidwestPX for my SHTF mags.

1 pointFor some reason my first post didn't take so flame away... Ray - I'm with you, 50BMG indoors is just plain obnoxious and stupid. Might as well light a M-80 on your shoulder, Accomplishes the same thing, makes lots of noise and proves nothing. #2 Pizza Bob - I hope your arthritis gets better. Spell out Tactical Training Center. TTC means shit to me.

1 pointIf Mayweather had any balls he’d be the one changing fighting venues. Mayweather would last about 10 seconds with an amateur MMA fighter in real MMA bout. Anyway the link below may be of some interest, time to fire up the vpn

1 pointYou'll BE IN LINE BEHIND ME, lol! OR I'd be hittin'-up the guns' owner for some trigger time on his dime ! Plugs, a shaped rubber barrier customized to fit inside the muffs, and then the muffs themselves are required to lite-off a BMG inside IMHO... I still think it can be done: Under special circumstances, and arranged in advance, with the entire facility closed to that special event, and if the backstop can actually handle it, I'd consider a "function fire test" (which is basically what Bob & Co. are trying to do) if I were a partner there. They (several people) called in advance to get the needed clearance (WHICH THEY DID), so I'm extremely disappointed FOR THEM! FUN FACTS FOR THOSE THAT HAVEN'T SHOT A BMG YET: There is a You-Tube video floating around where a dude fires his 82A1 towards a window down a standard 3' wide hallway INSIDE A HOUSE so nobody can see the muzzle flash...HE COLLAPSES THE WALLS OF THE HALLWAY with the muzzle break back-blast IN ONE SHOT At an indoor range, the guns laying to the immediate right & left ports may get BLOWN ON THE FLOOR, along with anything else that isn't TIED-DOWN! Outdoors I've seen neighbor's shooting mats get blown off the boardwalk (OBR&PC's Firing Line) while shooting prone position.

1 pointIn the internals make it look like the trigger bars and striker plungers (and slides) are really different then previous versions. I'm curious, but not curious enough to spend money. edited to add: now that I've seen more pictures of the internals, it is a drastically new gun inside. It is more different then any of the previous 4 gens put together. I can't decide if that is good or bad.

1 pointThis. Your mission drives your gear. If your job/hobby required you to routinely switch from medium range (150-300yards) to MOUT range (25-150 yards) to CQB range (room distances) on the fly - the RDS w/magnifier was the answer for a lot of years. Until recently (5 years or so) Your only other option was a variable power scope without a true 1x at its lowest setting that was less than ideal at FISHing distances and was extremely expensive. Now, with so many excellent choices in the low power variable mag area - most with a true 1x - with quality options running a broad range of pricing, the FTS magnifier is really obsolete. You can buy an excellent quality 1-6 variable power optic and mount that will suit you much better for about the same price as an Aimpoint RDS and Aimpoint Magnifier with appropriate mounts. It is a no brainer.

1 pointBob, sorry to hear about this incident. OBR&PC is rated for .50 BMG at the outdoor range. I've shot 82A-1's there every-so-often (a coupla friends of mine have them---and one guy has THICK static steel targets he routinely engages with his Barrett). I can guest-in up to 3 people at once, NOT an entire entourage, but it has to be done during the DAY, not at night. If I can be of any help in the future, keep me in mind Rosey

1 pointAnd a magnet strong enough to work would be nearly impossible to swap quickly for another card.

1 pointJust to follow up with all the great advice given here, I have read all of it and used all of it. I was able to get to the range and make some test shots. Only tested velocity and functionality for the rounds, not tests for accuracy yet. Wanted to make sure they function first. Starting with the CFE-Pistol at 4.8 Grains, then moving up to 4.9, 5.1, 5.3. COL:1.150 Avg Vel: 1085, 1118, 1123, 1138 Picked up all cases and check them all, all looked good, no flattened primers, cases looked good. Even had a friend there who has been loading for a while check them out too. No signs of over pressure. Being that even my lowest loads still made PF, for my next steps, I'm going to work up a few more loads starting at 4.8 and going down to 4.5 and start my checking functionality and accuracy from bench rest.

1 pointLook, if someone jumps out of their car and moves in on you, HE's The Aggressor.... You are the likely victim. However this case the tables got turned, the names remain the same as originally laid out. Try this shit in Texas and the Dead man would have begged to be Tased, Bro.

1 pointI like the Matech BUIS. Low profile, yardage adjustable out to 600 yards, and can be had relatively inexpensively. I use it on all my optics equipped AR's.
-
1 pointIf you want flip up: Troy if you plan on using it often. Magpul if you want it as a truly "Oh Crap!" backup. Another option that I have tried and liked is the GG&G MAD sight (Which does have the capability of setting either aperture up as the primary) If you want fixed: LaRue or C4 Diopter BUIS. Whatever you choose, avoid ARMS products at all costs.

1 pointI personally see no reason for the expense of tritium sights on a fighting long gun. If it is dark enough where you can not see your sight outline, you need a white light for target ID. Once the while light is on, you can see your sight outline.
