What do you expect from Kalifornia? Hi taxes, hi crime, and stupid politicians. Wasn't kalifornia the place where everyone wanted to live? Now it's one of the "unhappiest states".

according to the article, no. they did mention the law about not having a firearm within 1000 ft of a school but it doesn't really count if you are just driving past the school with guns in your vehicle, the local authorities said no charges would be filed by them.

Another thing that got me was.. how did the dog pick up the scent? Do they have bomb dogs regularly patrol this school?

There's more to this. There were other vehicles with ammunition in them. I suspect, someone told someone who told someone that this kid kept his gun in his truck and so they went after him "just to be safe". The issue I have with the whole premise is intent. If he's just a lazy bird hunter, tell him to stop it and be done with it. If he was a threat, why aren't the police involved? Someone had it out for this kid for some reason.

Being expelled seems like a harsh punishment considering there were no state charges involved. I wonder if this individual has a past history that obviously would not be made public by the school officials.

Back in my High School days, you really had to work at getting expelled. Even a Suspension was rare.

Unfortunately that's not the case now. Today, I would be expelled for carrying my Swiss Army Knife instead of the teacher taking it away for the day and nicely giving it back to me at the end of the day and telling me politely not to bring it to school again. Today, I would be expelled for bringing a clearly inert pineapple grenade to school, instead of just having it confiscated (never to see it again).

I was wondering the same thing. Bad timing for the student. Every now and then at my HS they would lock it down, not allowing anyone to go in the halls while the dogs sniffed the lockers. Im not sure if they ever went through the student parking lot. Probably.
