Is there a specific place and time we're planning to meet up. or just show up at the entrance to the range?

Does anyone have a set of turn by turn directions to the range for those of us who've never been there?

I don't know the time, but I imagine we'd all meet near the rifle ranges. Make sure you have someone's number in case you get a bit lost. I'll see if I can dig up directions. Calling the range may be your safest bet though. I really only know how to go from going.

Last time we all went, most of us got there around 7:45 and met at the range office. Apparently, if it's a busy day, all the lanes can fill up and you may end up waiting 2-3 hours to shoot if you don't get there when the office opens. Wasn't that much of an issue that day cuz it was raining, so aside from the people that showed up for Hunter's Ed, the range wasn't that busy. I imagine the amount of people that show up on the 30th will also be dependent on the weather. But, I'd say to aim for 7:45 to be on the safe side.

The directions Stephanie posted are the directions I used to get there last time and they worked well for me.

Do they know we are coming that day? They used to have shoots at Dix that we put together by some guys on that other site. They would make prior arrangements, get 3 or 4 lanes reserved for as many hours as we wanted, and you could bring who you wanted without having to have enough members to get the rest of the guys in without doing the guest thing. They would charge a fee per person that would go to the range ($15 or $20 something like that). Worked quite well. Perhaps whoever is arranging this can make a similar arrangement with the people running Dix these days?

This is a good idea if it can be worked out. For the amount of people who have said they're coming, the member to guest ratio is getting a little tight

Right now we have 10 members which allows for 30 extra shooters. Subtract 3 since 3 members are bringing a guest. So that leaves 27. We have 19 non-members, so I think it might work out.

Pretty sure Bry@n is going plus his wife and he's a member so that would give two more slots for non-members. Have to confirm with him though.

lmao! I knew someone was going to say that. Expected it from Ken first though. lol.

I just wasn't paying any attention. Another missed opportunity.

It's good to know that Pete has my back, though.

    • We never let then inside.  Last re-evaluation was 6-7 years ago, wife politely told him that he was welcome to look around the property and he could look in the windows. He saw two white resin chairs in the basement and told her that this constituted a finished basement. And everything in the basement is bare concrete/ cinder block, and mechanical systems. Nothing finished about it. Ultimately he relented and I'm sure that was a ploy to coerce us to allow him in

    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
