No Carry In Disney?

Not that it matters since I am on my way back and don't even have FL CCW yet (still waiting)... but does anyone know for sure if Disney really disallows CCW..

 

* I saw NO signage stating that CCW was not permitted...

* I never once had to go through a metal detector..

* Nothing on the ticket stated I could not carry..

 

I feel that I could have easily carried in Disney with NO hassle.. again just some observations based on my recent trip..

You could carry in Disney. No metal detectors. They just use the stick to look in your bag.

The biggest concern i think is...do you really want to take a chance of missing and hitting a child by accident?

no of course not.. ideally I will never have to use a firearm that I choose to carry.. the situation is more the comfort of having it on the tiny chance of needing it.. would I ever want to use it and miss and hit a kid.. NO WAY.. but would it be worth having if some guy goes nuts and has his back against a wall, giving you a clean shot.. YES.. so yeah the thought of carrying for me is based on odds.. first the odds are unlikely I would ever need a gun that I am carrying.. next are the odds of having a shot I feel comfortable taking.. because even if I am sure.. there is still some potential for error.. so adding all that up.. the chances of me needing a gun and being in the situation where I am comfortable taking the shot are next to zero.. but being prepared for that %.0000000001 instance is the way I live my life.. that might be a little excessive.. but it's just how my mind works.. lol

 

example: I had a screw driver in my carry on.. my girlfriend is telling me that I am nuts and security is going to stop me and all this.. well I checked TSA and it was legal to have.. so I brought it.. one of the kids ended up locking one of the parents out of the bedroom.. we were able to use the screw driver to use to get the door open.. point being.. for me I would rather be over prepared than under prepared.. lol

I would rather be prepared for a situation that will most likely, and hopefully, not happen....than to not be prepared. I mainly focus this thought process on serious issues that have serious consequences. Mainly "survival" if you will....just like Vlad, it may sound paranoid, but on the OFF chance that something happens, I would rather be prepared. Unfortunately this is a pretty uncommon thought process. I could tell by the look on my classmates faces when I said I would carry if I could. Everybody was absolutely shocked, and asking why. Yes, because living 5 minutes outside of Trenton, with my girlfriend living IN Trenton isn't enough of a reason :icon_rolleyes:

Good to know. I was wondering about the same thing when I was in Disney in Feb for a conference. Will be going back in may, with ccw in hand. While down there, planning on driving around the Orlando area and down the coast for some real estate due dilligence.

there appears to be quite the criminal element in the surrounding area... for your own safety.. I would not hewsitate to carry even if you don't plan to actually carry on the property.. good luck with the trip..

 

I wonder if these recent events will change any policies at Disney itself, though I doubt it: http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/12/03/florida.disney.violence

 

crazy the article is dated the 3rd.. I was literally there during that and didn't hear a peep of it..

No weapons of any kind allowed. Just be prepared to be escorted out of the park. I don't think they can arrest you if you have a permit, they'll just ask you to leave.

The only thing I've ever heard about Disney and weapons was a situation involving an employee who kept a gun in his car. This individual had a FL license, but Disney has a policy against weapons on the premises for employees, including a ban on employees having weapons in their cars if parked on Disney lots. I believe that he was fired for refusing to let his car be searched, and he sued. As it turns out, FL has a law protecting employees who lawfully lock guns in their cars while working.

 

I don't recall any mention of a ban for visitors. As I understand it, unless Disney posts signs or otherwise communicates a no weapons policy, then Disney is not off limits for those who carry. However, since it is still private property, they can ask you to leave if they find you carrying (and if you don't, it becomes trespassing).

I think that if I carried based on the information that was readily available at the entrance.. they would be hard pressed to break my balls about it.. as stated they would probably ask you to leave.. but there is no signage anywhere directing you to not carry a weapon..

* Concealed carry...

I was just down with my wife, kids, mon and step-dad. My step day has some sort of retired officer badge in his wallet. While going through his fanny pack on the way in to the Magic Kingdom one of the security guys noticed it and specifically asked him if he was carrying and told him that he could not in the parks. Since my step-dad has probably spent more time in Disney than any two of their employees combined he already knew that, his gun was in the safe back at the room...

I had heard from someone who had been told by local LEO near Disney that there has been a lot of crime in the area around Disney, mainly in the lots.....they don't want it publicized so you don't hear much about it....mainly robberies

I'm not surprised the least bit, that would be a solid target area for criminals. People don't know the area, they will most likely be carrying large sums of cash....it is a DISTINCT advantage.

This is a Disney rule and I think it should be a Federal/State rule. Disney is a place for kids and should fall under a zero weapons policy just like schools do.

Disney does not advertise that.. so the consumer would have to be informed to comply..

That's what I was wondering.

 

I was just reading the terms for a cruise line, and first they have the paragraph about no firearms or weapons of any kind, and then 2 paragraphs later, a disclaimer that they are in no way responsible for your safety, rather you are responsible. :icon_question:
