Fort Dix AR explosion!

Recommended Posts

Yeah gotta bring your own targets.

They sell simple cardboard targets on 1x2's that you can dig in pretty easy.

I suggest you guys find some real estate signs or the ad poster thingys in the ground for political/etc signs and liberate those :)

Last year around this time I went to Ft. Dix and brought a 1 1/2" spade bit on a cordless drill and that seamed to work fairly well. I watched guys really struggle with the post hole diggers that they have there and it didnt look like fun.

That's because you young whippersnappers do not understand the mechanics of a fine tool like a post hole digger. Everything is plug it in and use power tools. :icon_lol:

Glad to see somebody else on this forum use "whippersnappers" - we're watching you youngsters. :sarcastichand:

Us young whippersnappers just don't want to show off by digging so fast :onthequiet: Ive also brought 5 or so phone books and duct taped them together then taped a piece of 5' high cardboard to that to staple my targets onto. Its a good dig free option if its not windy or raining. Also, the phone books are fun to shoot at when you get board of the targets.

We can shoot at stuff on the ground at Ft Dix? We used to be able to at CJ, until something JCP&L complaining that their lineman working on the towers behind the berms were hearing ricochets wizz past them. It was determined it was probably from ricochets off of the ground when shooting at ground targets. Others think they are making it up and just being pricks. Now we have to shoot at stuff 5ft off the ground minimum, or if its clearly on the bottom of the berm.

I'll be there at 7:30 tomorrow.

If anyone wants to be "guested", just look for a good looking guy in a Porcshe Carrera GT, with the super sexy model girlfriend. I'll be the goofy looking asian next to them, ogling the hottie from my silver Honda, probably humming a Justin Bieber song.

If you send me a PM, I'll reply with my cell phone. I'm easy like that.

Don't know if I can make it. Too much storm damage to clean up. Maybe I can get there later. Hope you all have a great time.

Jimmy! storm clean-up can wait till later!, unless you lost shingles or something... hope not.

    • We never let then inside.  Last re-evaluation was 6-7 years ago, wife politely told him that he was welcome to look around the property and he could look in the windows. He saw two white resin chairs in the basement and told her that this constituted a finished basement. And everything in the basement is bare concrete/ cinder block, and mechanical systems. Nothing finished about it. Ultimately he relented and I'm sure that was a ploy to coerce us to allow him in
    • I use an Alien Gear cloak tuck (IWB) with my Shield.  Neoprene back - in the summer it does feel warm but doesn't rub or chafe.   https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-iwb-holster.html Could also go with the shapeshift as it has multiple options - OWB/IWB, Appendix... https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-shapeshift-modular-holster-system.html
    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
