Shawnmoore81 623 Posted May 7, 2011 Well my 30th birthday is Friday and my wife bought me a gift card for millers gun shop in del. That gift card went towards my new toy Smith and wesson m&p-15 orc (optics ready, compliant)

Krdshrk 3,878 Posted May 8, 2011 Congrats on the buy! How muchie? What iron sights? Is that gas block the same height as the upper rail? Iron sights are so much easier to get for that height - just don't use a Magpul MBUS front - it'll melt!
Shawnmoore81 623 Posted May 8, 2011 $1014 for the gun out the door. Del has no sales tax or background check fee. Store is on 13 a few miles after you cross the del memorial bridge. Sights are magpul and yes they are the same height. I think these are the sights and if they melt theyll be replacing em. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=27446/Product/AR_15_M16_MBUS_SIGHT_SYSTEM
Krdshrk 3,878 Posted May 8, 2011 I don't know if they'll replace it. Brownells notes: NOTE: Due to the nature of materials used, these sights are not to be installed on railed gas blocks.

Shawnmoore81 623 Posted May 8, 2011 Millers is a great gun shop. Also the walmart down the road has the cheapest ammo I've seen

Shawnmoore81 623 Posted May 8, 2011 Obviously. I wasn't sure if their has been one brand that's favorable. Im working some ot to buy some parts. I'm new to the ar word. I shoot my buddy's m4 often but thus is the first one I've bought.
Dan 177 Posted May 8, 2011 Heh I thought so, but you asked which ones don't melt. Sorry couldn't resist. Bravocompany has a nice lineup of fixed and folding options from good companies, including Troy and DD. Worth checking out My link
Krdshrk 3,878 Posted May 8, 2011 I got this one: http://www.skdtac.com/Midwest_Industries_Flip_Up_Front_Sight_p/mid.101.htm Of course, they're sold out right now - their 25% off special cleaned them out

Tosser 61 Posted May 10, 2011 So many eotechs how do you pick the right one? Well choose night vision comparable or not. Then batteries, N, 123a, or AA Then recticle. I currently use an XPS 2-0, and have used in the past a 552 and

But I might say screw it and do a scope Just ask yourself what you plan on using the Rifle for and go from there. Do you have access to a long distance range? Shawnmoore81 623 Posted May 10, 2011 I'm a member at a club with a 100 yard range. They bought land and said they were going to stretch out to 300 yards but haven't done so yet. But for long distance I have my 30-06. Mostly I'll be messing around inside 100 yards

Cylinder Head 22 Posted May 11, 2011 If it were me then I would get a red dot of Some flavor. You'd be much more familiar with this than me, but from what I've read, magnification mostly serves for threat identification.
