tbtrout 141 Posted November 7, 2011 A maverick 88 is a mossberg 500,same gun different trigger group. A used one from one of our vendors is always a great option. What do you want to use it for?
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted November 7, 2011 What is your intended purpose for it? Do you want a Pump? Over/Under? Side by Side? Semi auto? Bolt Action?
jeklog 7 Posted November 7, 2011 interested in pump, would like to say just to have one to shoot once in a while/home defense. $200 is very tempting for the maverick88.
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted November 7, 2011 If you're looking for a bargain, the NEF Pardner Protector pump (Remmy 870 Knockoff) is only $180 from Dick's this week.
Luke_WO 11 Posted November 9, 2011 Mossberg 500 is reputable and legit, and I haven't had any problems with mine, even though I've only put a few hundred rounds through it. Pretty sure they can be had for right around 300 bucks. I would go with that simply based on reputation over something that costs 100 dollar less. When you really think about it, is $300 vs. $200 a huge difference? Pls
Luke_WO 11 Posted November 9, 2011 Disregard "pls." Brought that in by mistake.
Ray Ray 3,566 Posted November 9, 2011 If it's going to be strictly home defense and occasional use then 500/590A1 or 870. Use the "knock-offs" or "off brands" for range time and fun. Just my 2 cents.
