Need a good gunsmith

Recommended Posts

bought a new M&P Pro 9mm for IPSC shooting... very disappointed... trigger and sights are terrible... go figure, but Smith calls it a pro series... when pulling the trigger, it makes screeching sounds and moves jerkingly...

shooting from the bench - aiming at a bullseye positioned at 15 yards, bullet hits the target 5-6" below and a a bit on a left side from the aim point...

anyhow... i would much appreciate if somebody could recommend a good gunsmith...

+1

Just call S&W

They will send a call tag for it...... 2 weeks, you will have it back

Edit:

Although the M&P triggers are not perfect out of the box..... if yours is actually making noise, then something is very wrong. The PRO trigger should be near perfect out of the box, falling somewhere between the stock "sometimes" gritty trigger and the APEX internals......

As far as the sights...... fix the trigger 1st, sights are fixable, and most likely you will be changing them anyway to a personal preference.

Sort of off top , but relevant - If he sends his pistol off to smith for work, he needs to go through an ffl of course, but does he need a PPP for when he receives it back ?

Nope..... FedEx or UPS 2 day is all that is needed back and forth..... no FFL or PPP required....

Correct.

Starting 2013, USPSA Production first trigger pull is 3 lbs.

to the OP... have you detail stripped the gun, cleaned and lubed it before shooting it?

Something just seems off, and in most cases, I lean the way of the indian, not the arrow.

I ended up with a Massachusetts compliant 10 lb trigger model. If you've replaced your trigger with an aftermarket I'll buy the original one.

Hello everyone, brand new to the board so let me know if I'm in the right subforum or if I can have this better answered elsewhere. pagunforums.com anyone? lol
Can anyone recommend an FFL in Pennsylvania that will pin weld breaks, pin stocks, and also accept transfers. I live in North Jersey so anything in North PA with low FFL and gunsmithing fees are preferable. I am running into problems with a shop refusing to send complete AR 15s to NJ FFLs. Any help is appreciated.

I have machined a few of my handgun slides to accept a micro red dot. Currently there is a decent business available for machinists with the equipment to do the job properly. My question is. Can I accept slide only (no frame or receiver or other serialized parts) into my shop to CNC mill the slide for rmr? Or does this constitute being in the "gun business"?  I have sent an e-mail to the ATF with this very same question but, I dont know when I will hear back from them. As far as I can read from any of the ATF frequently asked Q&A I can do such business. I could also for example make parts such as charging handles, handguards etc.. However, I dont want to be on the wrong side of the laws. I will not take any answer as an offer of legal advice. Merely asking the question to know if I should proceed with paying someone for a official interpretation of the law.

Hello everyone I was wondering if any Glock owners could give me advice for the following:

Due to eye strain I want to get larger sights for my Glock handgun , can you recommend any that have worked well for you.

Also I am in South jersey and would need someone to install the sights, is this something a typical gun shop can do or is there anyone specific you can recommend.

      Thank you for any advice.

    • The younger generation offers their opinions on marriage: 1. HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHO TO MARRY? -You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the chips and dip coming. -- Alan, age 10 -No person really decides before they grow up who they're going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you get to find out later who you're stuck with. -- Kristen, age 10 2. WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE TO GET MARRIED? Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person FOREVER by then. -- Camille, age 10 3. HOW CAN A STRANGER TELL IF TWO PEOPLE ARE MARRIED? You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to be yelling at the same kids. -- Derrick, age 8 4. WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR MOM AND DAD HAVE IN COMMON? Both don't want any more kids. -- Lori, age 8 5. WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE DO ON A DATE? -Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each other. Even boys have something to say if you listen long enough. -- Lynnette, age 8 -On the first date, they just tell each other lies and that usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date. -- Martin, age 10 6. WHEN IS IT OKAY TO KISS SOMEONE? -When they're rich. -- Pam, age 7 -The law says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn't want to mess with that. -- Curt, age 7 7. IS IT BETTER TO BE SINGLE OR MARRIED? It's better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need someone to clean up after them. -- Anita, age 9 8. HOW WOULD THE WORLD BE DIFFERENT IF PEOPLE DIDN'T GET MARRIED? There sure would be a lot of kids to explain, wouldn't there? -- Kelvin, age 8 9. HOW WOULD YOU MAKE A MARRIAGE WORK? Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a dump truck. -- Ricky, age 10
    • Both very true but the clot shot one in especially on target!
    • Oh man! If that wasn’t the Marine version, I’d jump on it.  Is that a Gen 1 or Gen 2 gun?
    • I used Robinwoods kennel in Tuckerton
