john q publik 10 Posted May 19, 2012 That figures. In one of the worst areas of the state, let alone AC, they can have armed personnel(off duty & retired Blues, anyone else see the hipocrisy?), to protect their food, but we peasants canot have arms to protect our LIVES. This shithole disgusts me more and more each day
HKHockey 5 Posted May 19, 2012 AC has some pretty shady areas. And i would assume this is in response to a rash of robberies?

This shithole disgusts me more and more each day Yes it is disgusting. AC kind of reminds me of the "fake" town in the movie Blazing Saddles. The cardboard facade looked all pretty just like a real town but behind it was nothing but empty wasteland. Wander off of the "yellow brick road" in AC and your in a war zone! When I read the part about retired or off duty LEO having the jobs, I did think that was a bit discriminatory. There is no chance in hell of anyone else ever working as an armed guard unless by some miracle we get CCW.
Adam 6 Posted May 19, 2012 Back in August of 96, I rode up from Georgia while on leave with a kid from AC to split gas cost and driving duty... When I was dropping him off at his house (roughly 3-4am) someone was murdered roughly 20ft from us while we took his bags out of the car... When the week or so was almost up, I called his house to find out our meeting arrangements for the ride back down.. He had been murdered the night prior while standing on his porch smoking a cigarette. The woman I spoke to, said it was in retaliation for the Murder we witnessed.. I've only been to AC in the daylight since then lol Went once at night after that (other then my bachelor party which is a WHOLE 'nother story) and witnessed a mugging. Place is a war zone.. vladtepes 1,060 Posted May 19, 2012 I lived 15 minutes from AC.. been there a ton.. been there at night a ton.. never really felt "scared", but in retrospect the place is a shit hole.. and really needs to just be burnt to the ground..

Kaiser7 33 Posted May 19, 2012 Hmm... Security guard at my mall and I were talking, he said something about Homeland Security wanting something like 1.5 million rounds of .45acp (or maybe it was .40?) in hollowpoint, to be filled within the next few years... Dewhitewolf 8 Posted May 19, 2012 Not too long ago I noticed that the Motor Vehicle office in Randolph had an armed guard. When I saw that (I only needed to renew my registration), I walked out and drove to the one in Washington (Warren County). Not only was there no armed security (none in uniform anyway), but there was also no line. In and out in less than five minutes. I wasn't so much concerned about the armed guard causing me a problem, but more about the people who caused the need for there to be an armed guard in the first place. NJScott 15 Posted May 19, 2012 The Bayonne DMV has had armed guards for as long as I can remember. Mostly because the office is located in a strip mall that straddles Bayonne and Jersey City, with public housing directly across the street. As for AC : the last time we stayed overnight (at Caesar 's), we heard gunfire and screaming coming from Pacific Avenue around 4am. Truly one of the biggest shitholes in this state. johnp 45 Posted May 19, 2012 The last time I went to the DMV in Garfield, Bergen County. There was an armed cop stationed there, Garfield isn't a 'bad' town nor does it really border any bad towns.

I've been in Garfield plenty, and think it's a night and day difference from Passaic. But that's my perspective as a total outsider/occasional visitor to both towns. KpdPipes 388 Posted May 20, 2012 First signs of the eventual food shortage/food rationing. Oh please..if that was the case, it's been in the works for about 30 years or so..my local supermarket has hired guys to do security since the 70's
deadeye74 5 Posted May 20, 2012 I'm in AC often. Its no surprising to hear that they are hiring armed guards. Not long ago people were car jacked, kidnapped and shot from a casino parking garage. Nothing is sacred in that town. Two years ago before Christmas, a guy dressed as Santa was out on the boardwalk handing out flyers for the Irish Pub and got held up at knife point for his gloves! All this goes on and yet the DGE does not want armed security in the casinos. Imagine bring the poor security guard on grave shift that happens upon a car jacking or parking garage robbery and only has a two way radio to defend himself. Atlantic City is one of those cities that has hood scum that will walk in and shoot said armed security guard just to be "tough".. I don't question your skill.. but seriously armed security basically just says "shoot me first before you rob the place"... grocery stores in AC have come and gone.. and the reason they left and did not come back is obvious.. it's funny.. you are around something long enough and it is not scary.. but that is just because you are used to it.. I would honestly probably never go back there.. that place really really sucks.. and now that other states have gotten into the gaming business it is going to suck even more.... more people will be out of jobs.. there will be even less money in the community.. Atlantic City is a dying city.. and when it finally does go completely belly up.. look out.. because I am sure the scum will bleed into surrounding communities.. Plesantville and parts of Egg Harbor Twp. are getting bad. Right across the state you have Camden oozing their scum into the neighboring towns. All of us in the middle are stuck with turds floating past us traveling from toilet to toilet. The Expressway/Rt. 42 is turning into a sewer pipe. All of us in the middle are stuck with turds floating past us traveling from toilet to toilet. The Expressway/Rt. 42 is turning into a sewer pipe. Amen to that. The town next to mine, Laurel Springs got screwed pretty bad. Home to Walt Whitman's summer home, the democrats won a lot of elections some time ago, and built an apartment complex directly behind the home my great grandparents lived in. (This being only a few blocks from me) Then, the politicians responsible moved out of town. Lindenwold has tried to fix up their problems by closing up old apartment complexes there, which has forced the trash into Laurel Springs. My town, Stratford, has a bit more money than Laurel Springs, and so they simply walk down a few blocks and break into our cars and things like that.
