HavocMan 13 Posted June 7, 2012 I'd like to get involved in competitive USPSA shooting. I ordered a Bladetech Holster and mag pouches. They arrived a few days ago. I also bought one of their belts, but I just recently found out what an "inner / outer" belt is, so I'm now looking for one of those (this is where every points and laughs at the newb, lol). It seems like a much more practical setup. I have three 15 round mags for my M&P9 FS now and I have three more on the way from G&R Tactical. My real question is about my M&P9. The pistol has a rear sight from 10-8 Performance and a front sight from Trijicon. I also replaced the trigger with APEX Tactical's Forward Set Sear and Trigger Kit. Can I still shoot in the Production Division with these modifications? Lastly, does anyone know where I can get a simple, BLACK, inner/outer belt? Everything I've seen online is either blue, red, neon green - even pink (??) LOL!
Krdshrk 3,878 Posted June 7, 2012 You're fine in production. Aftermarket sights and trigger jobs are allowed. You did not remove any safeties (trigger safeties, etc), correct?
hiker88 22 Posted June 7, 2012 check Dawson Precision for their CR speed belts. Or if you want something a little cheaper, you can go for a safariland velcro inner/outer belt 1.5#... ordered on of those from opticsplanet.
67gtonut 847 Posted June 7, 2012 If you have the APEX FSS Trigger you can't shoot production If its the APEX DCEAK kit that is just the internal mods then you are fine for Production Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk excuse the spelling
Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted June 7, 2012 The replacement of the trigger (external part) is what prohibits this guns use in Production. You will have to shoot Limited or Limited 10. Try Red Dot Shooting for your inner/outer belt system. Great service and free shipping over $50... http://www.reddotshooting.com/ Adios, Pizza Bob
BlueLineFish 615 Posted June 7, 2012 The pro 4.25 is good for production as well?

Didn't know that there were APEX kits that replaced the trigger. The pro 4.25 is good for production as well? In stock form? Yes. Heck - my 9L which has a Burwell trigger job and Dawson sights is valid
HavocMan 13 Posted June 7, 2012 Yep, this gun has the FSS and trigger kit. I was afraid that the trigger would disqualify me from Production Division. Oh well, looks like I get to buy a M&P45 and give major a try, lol. So, as long as I keep the S&W trigger in the 45 I'll be gtg in Production DivIision, right? A trigger job is ok, righ? Thanks for the belt link too!
AS350Driver 56 Posted June 7, 2012 There is no major in Production, everything is scored minor. Get another 9mm or a 9pro for production, or use the .45 in Limited or Limited 10, if you really want to buy one. I'll be picking up a M&P40 Pro next week, to use for Limited. Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted June 7, 2012 @OP - you have kind of rushed into this with no real understanding of the discipline and it is costing you a lot of money. I'd suggest that you read the rule book (available on-line) and use this forum as a research resource before spending any more money. You have quite a few USPSA and IDPA shooters on this forum who are more than happy to help you enter the sport with minimal cost and maximum understanding. We're here, make use of us. Thanks for the belt link too! No point in shooting 45 in production imho. If you are getting the MP45, then put the stock trigger back in the 9 to use on production, and the ffs trigger on the 45, (or even in 40) so you can score major in limited 10. BlueLineFish 615 Posted June 9, 2012 Just buy a bunch of guns. Whatever you buy is bound to fit into some class or another.
Sivl32 27 Posted June 9, 2012 So if i were to get a trigger with an over travel stop that would kick me from production?
Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted June 9, 2012 So if i were to get a trigger with an over travel stop that would kick me from production? Yes, if it is an aftermarket trigger - it's an external part. If the trigger is available from the factory on other models of that gun, it would be OK.
Jon 264 Posted June 10, 2012 So if i were to get a trigger with an over travel stop that would kick me from production? If you wanted to game it, you could add an internal over-travel stop that was not visible, and stay in production. Not sure if it's technically legal, but noone is going to rip your gun apart to find this modification. If it's externally visible, it's a definite bump to limited.
