Went to the range today with my hunting rifle, which I haven't shot in a few years. It just so happens to be a particularly hard kicking rifle and on my second shot, I scope cut myself. I have never done it before and hope I won't do it again but man it sucks. I feel like such an ass. Anyway anyone else here brave enough to admit doing the same?

First rifle I bought when I was 18, Remington 770-.270, look through the scope..fire...nice bruise on my forehead. Quickly learn the fundamentals of shooting with a scope.

The first time I shot a garand I was 14 and put my nose to close to the gun and wacked myself and have myself a bloody nose

When I shoot a Garand I put my nose on the rifle. But that's actually safer than "too close"

Thank god I was wearing my glasses as the .30-06 flew right back and hit them. Worse was when I forgot to put my ears on in the SCFGPA tube with the same rifle. Ouch.

I have forgotten to put ears on before. You learn how important they are when you are shooting slugs at an indoor range and 20 people are qualifying simultaneously. Scared the hell out of me

In all honesty, it's not that bad. I actually shot three rounds. First one is the one that caught me, after that I was ok. I haven't shot anything compairable to that so I can't give a good description. I can say that it's worse than shootin a .30-06, but I think that's a given. Just need to get used to it.
