would you or any of you recommenced buying a ria 1911 as a first 1911? thinking of using a permit on a 1911 but not sure if i should get a rock island, a taurus, or lower end para ordnance.

It depends on your budget. I also own a RIA and has been running excellent after a brief break in period. There are plenty of good reviews out there. Slide to frame fit is tight and accuracy is excellent. The finish is typical of 1911's at around the $500 mark.

 

If you're willing to spend a little bit more, you can go for an STI Spartan, Ruger SR1911, SA, etc.
