Shotgun Shootout! July 14th at Clinton, NJ WMA

Recommended Posts

Ok well most of you know the game by now. We meet up, shoot lots of shotguns, and share laughs, shi* talking, and maybe even food (where are those dumplings at!?!). There are a ton of guns that everyone is willing to let you try (everything from Benelli's to old SxS's to newer Brownings, and lots of Mossbergs, for a reason :p.) It's a really fun day, and if you haven't come, or haven't been able to make it lately, you can be sure you're missing out!

Please try and bring everything you can in terms of a gun, ammo, and clays.

A rough check list of what to bring:
- Gun(s)
- Ammo (birdshot #7, 7.5, 8)
- Misc gun cleaning/lubing stuff
- Clays
- Thrower if you have one
- Eyes and ears
- Shell pouch
- Beverages/snacks
- Layer up and bring a warm jacket/gloves/hat depending on weather
- Chair

If you can't bring some things, we will have plenty of stuff there. If you've never shot a shotgun before, I and others will try working with you to be able to dust a clay by the end of the day!

Gun rules to remember:

Always treat a gun as if it was loaded
Keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to shoot
Never point the muzzle at anything you're not willing to destroy
Always be aware of you're target/line of fire
For this range, keep all guns unloaded until you're on the firing line

Be smart, be safe, and we will have a fun-filled day!

Must be talking about a hand thrower right. I can't see putting a thrower in that car and having room left for shells.

Lol I won't be taking my car if I'm binging my thrower

I'll be there.  I'll bring my thrower, and I'll try to remember the battery this time.  Guess that means no motorcycle this time.  But then I can stop at Hot Dog Johnnies on the way home.  And I've got a new Winchester to use.

Ahh Johnny's...we need to work something out with them so they can deliver a few dozen dogs to us at the range! And a new Winchester huh, is this the one you were trying out last month!?

Want to sell my Remington 870 tactical. It is in good condition. Has some slight rust on the upper part of the receiver.
It is a 12 gauge pump action shotgun. I can include 8 boxes of Winchester 8shot ammo as well.

I'm in union county and will travel to FFL within reasonable distance.
      Asking $300 with ammo.

Looking to sell my Beretta 1301 Tac. Black, standard stock, extended factory 7 round magazine, WITH replaceable chokes. Gun is like new, with all original packaging, paperwork, and accessories. Has been fired less than 250 rounds, and is in perfect shape. 7+1 round model, made NJ compliant with a 2 round limiter. I bought this gun brand new less than a month ago. I’ll include a Beretta hard plastic, foam lined gun case. I have a 1301 comp incoming, and while I would love to keep the tac, it’s just not practical, so I am letting it go.

Located in 08724, will travel to a ffl for transfer within a reasonable distance. Would prefer not to deal with shipping.
Please, serious buyers only. Ask any questions and I’ll answer them asap!

Hey everyone,  I'm a new gun owner and I love the gun community!  What I don't love is NJ and their ambiguous and backwards gun laws.  I wanted to get a pump action bullpup shotgun and was looking at the Kel Tec KS7 and KSG.  While trying to compare them with other brands I found it was almost impossible to find a list of pump action bullpup shotguns for around $1,000 or less.  Does anyone have any good recommendations besides the black aces tactical?  Thank you in advance for your time and help.  Have a great memorial day and God bless those who lost their loves making the ultimate sacrifice

    • There is a lot of crappy factory ammo out there.  A name like Remington and you cant even trust them with your life.  A few different instructors told me that they have been seeing some real shit ammo too.  For me...I'll continue to make my own.  I know it works.  ALL of them.
    • I think this ammo was bought during the pandemic where it seems like quality control went out the window.  I should have taken a picture of the primers today after shooting. Some had some pretty deep indents.  I shoot da/sa. The thing that was a bit alarming was sometimes it didn't go off on the second attempt of dropping the hammer and sometimes it did.
    • It’s possible it’s the ammo.  Try a box of something from Federal-Federal primers are known to be the ‘softest’.  If you get misfires still, the gun is again the prime suspect   of course you’ll ultimately want it to run with any ammo, but I’ve known revolvers that can’t seem to get to 100% ignition double action with any other primer
    • I've been getting light primer strikes lately with my CZ. It's happening mostly with some remington 9mm I bought.   It has an extended firing pin and is certainly hitting the primer so I don't believe it's that.  Maybe the spring needs replacement? I did the pencil test and the pencil flew about 7 feet.  Is it just hard primers/crappy ammo? Gun has about 7/8k rounds through it.
