I have an fnp45, love it.  Also love my 226 though, so tough call.

 

Edit: Thought about it and if the 227 shoots the same as 226 I would go with the 227.

I have shot the hk45c, not the tactical. Shot the fnx and the 226. My opinion would be the sig.

 

The Hk needs something for that grip to get better. On a rainy day, it was hard to hold the gun. Fnx was okay just didn't love it. Great grip. The sig is the same as another sig. I would do a trigger job in it and rock n roll.

 

My only gripe is the fn has 13 or 15 rounds. That is hard to pass ip

Another vote for the FNX45...absolutely love mine.. i have 3 Glocks but if I had to take 1 gun in a SHTF scenario it would the FNX..15+1 of .45 is a nice tool to have. The gun has functioned flawlessly and is built tough. HKs and Sigs are great guns too but for me the FNX is the best bang for your buck..

Having shot a hk45ct, I'd now say if I could do something about the grip to get more if a purchase on it, I'd go with the Hk but only in v7 lem config.

Yes its cheaper and...feels cheaper. But there are a couple things that bother me with this pistol. Not that you couldnt fix it with a sanding block and a metal file but... the four corner edges on the grip are too squared off. Or maybe its the way they wrapped the pattern. But I hate the way it feels. But the other thing I really dislike is the absolutely bizzare fish hook ejector! Its retarded sharp. I cant imagine trying to clear the bullet pathway in an emergency with that meat hook right there! Not to keep banging on the FNX but I also dislike the mushiness of the safety and how it feels spring loaded. It does not feel positive enough to go C&L to me. If you are a DA/SA mode guy its a non issue for you. On the likes side, reset and SA trigger are very good and the pistol is accurate!

 

But lets talk about capacity for a minute. Its a endless debate, I know. But at what point do you feel comfortable with the number of rounds in your pistol? If you were in a combat operations area, the argument for max cap makes sense. Your likely giving cover fire to get back to your rifle. But outside of that scenario, what is sufficient? My opinion is that I would prefer enough rounds to be able to engage up to 3 bad guys without a reload. I feel that 11 rounds covers me for that. The added weight and thickness to get to 16 in a 45 is not worth the compromises, to me. If I want 16 then I will carry a 9. I believe in 99.9% of the time, you will run out of time before you run out of ammo...

I don't really think anyone actually carries this pistol ccw.  It's way to big and bulky for that.  I agree an 8 or so round 1911 or double stack 9mm if you want higher cap would do just fine.  This pistol seems to me like something you'll want in your house, or if you've made a conscious decision that you're in for a fight.  If its just a range toy, then who cares, get whatever anyway.

The FNX isnt suited for CCW as I dont think any of the above mentioned would be..I'll concede the grip isnt for everyone and it ultimately comes down to prefrence.I think FN put a premium on having an aggressive texture to ensure positive grip.. As for the safety lever, I've sat and worked that thing in empty drills and IMHO its plenty positive.. The HK is absolutely a solid platform that contains exemplary workmanship (at a price premium)., as I said earlier though for me, as just a pure fighting gun used for HD/SHTF/Range fun, when money doesnt allow for a Mercedes class gun and when you just want something that is accurate and simply works everytime, FNX fits the bill for me. Hey in a perfect world I'd own em all..

I'd carry the HK45CT. Its almost identicle in size to my P30. But hey, I think I could carry a FNX45tactical too. But Im 6'2" 255 so it gives me more realestate to do such things

I had this one but my buddy wanted it and I wasnt quite as enamored with it as I had hoped so its his now. The final realization was that I simply cant do the DA/SA thing.

I end up getting the web of my hand near my thumb pinched in the FNX's safety.  I'd get a USP 45 or a SIG P227 or P220.

This my fnp 45 next to my Springfield 45 tactical, don't forget when she is loaded up with 15+1 in the chamber she is a heavy momma!

Hey all.  Thanks for all the input.  I went out and shot the HK45, the Sig 227 and the Fn.  Here was my takeaway.

 

HK - Nice gun.  But I have a P30 in .40.  Meh on the trigger.  Fit my hands well. Bummer no tritium.  Expensive

Sig - NICE.  Feels like my 226 only more recoil.  Meh on the trigger, but I expected it as it was non-SRT.  I have SRT in my 226.  Grip fits nice.  Famiear controls and fits my holsters.

FN - Pretty nice.  Doesn't feel as well put together like the others.  Didn't like the trigger.  Fit hands good but grip a little square for my liking.

 

Al in all all are very nice, but I went and purchased a Sig P227 Equinox.  I will drop in an SRT kit and be done.  Got a great deal.

Yes it has the E2.  On my 226, its several years old, and I ended up putting the E2 and the SRT on it.  Much better.
