ogfarmer 138 Posted November 18, 2013 Anyone own a Boberg or ever shot one? I like the size and ergo of this pistol but the mags and chambering process seem wacky to me. I have read reviews that this firemarm is very finicky with the brand ammo you run thru it because of the way it chambers a round. Thus giving this a thumb down for CCW in my mind. They are a expensive firearm but I really love the size. http://www.bobergarms.com/ I am not really interested in buying one because of the reviews are 50/50 but just looking to see if anyone here has first hand experience. david8613 69 Posted November 18, 2013 PK90 a forum/vendor used to own one, I always wanted one but the price kept me away, the next up in size is khar cm/pm 9, nice gun...
Sixtytwo327 14 Posted November 18, 2013 I think they stole the mag loading concept from H&K.
BlueLineFish 615 Posted November 18, 2013 The cm9 costs a lot less than the boberg
Steve_G 51 Posted November 18, 2013 I believe Paul had a Rohrbaugh R9. Pretty hefty price tag but, also considered one of the most reliable pocket guns around. http://www.rohrbaughfirearms.com/
ogfarmer 138 Posted November 18, 2013 HK had that weird mag design and chambering also?

ogfarmer 138 Posted November 18, 2013 yes BLF you got 1 of everything, LOL but back to my original question before this turns into a thread about which ccw to get. I am well aware of all the other pistol options but this one raises a certain curiosity about the way it functions.
ogfarmer 138 Posted November 18, 2013 especially how it grabs the rim and feeds the round

Sixtytwo327 14 Posted November 19, 2013 HK had that weird mag design and chambering also? Not really; just a cheap shot at H&K for the infamous backward ammo catalog. Naturally a bit skeptical about the Boberg: they claim "25% more knockdown power" because it has 17% more velocity in a package 8% smaller than a Kimber Solo... Boberg also claims it shoots a 9mm with the recoil of a .22. That said, I love new designs and companies trying to innovate, and can't blame a company trying to hype a new-to-market product. I know nothing past the blogs and a Hickok45 video. Same as OP, interested to hear any firsthand experience - in particular, is it worth the price. Turbotezza 1 Posted December 24, 2013 I have one and it is my CC pistol. No way is it's recoil like a .22! Recoil is fast and snappy. And you hand will feel the effects after 15 to 20rds of continuous shooting. Their claim stems from the fact that the XR9 barrel actually starts above the magazine as opposed to in front of it. raz-0 1,259 Posted October 2, 2014 HK had that weird mag design and chambering also? No, but they were stupid enough to slap promo photography with cartridges backwards in a mag on their catalog one year. It's infamous. They probably wouldn't have caught as much flack as they did if they weren't in the midst of telling you how H&Ks could operate under any conditions, even firing with an obstructed barrel. As for the OP, no I don't have one, but it's one of the feww oddball guns I would like form a collection point of view rather than a practical one. Price is a bit much for me at the moment though. While HK has some blame to bear for the catalog cover shot, they weren't the only ones. I find the story behind it makes me chuckle. The Germans... need a sense of humor. Oh and I'd love to shoot a Boberg... they intrigue me, much like how anything that has a true variation on a common theme intrigues me. The entry price is too much for me to gamble on with though. Old School 611 Posted October 3, 2014 It's just me but the complexity of the feeding system out weighs it's virtue. It's not the smallest out there yet, it's comparable to others. I carry and prefer a PM9 small and simple.
