Just a heads up, if you have a mosin or PSL you may want to go pick up a few extra spam cans right now.  I was just talking with a big wig in the gun world and he told me to buy because of all of the stuff going in in Ukraine.  It appears that most of the surplus x54 ammo is coming from Ukraine and with Russia getting ready to send troops there, things may get a little hairy.  This may mean and end to surplus spam cans as we know it.  It is not guaranteed, so dont scream at me if the price doesn't go up but call it a friendly heads up.

I also heard a rumor that all Russian weapons and ammo may soon be on a "no import" list due to the saber rattling going on by Russia right now.

Thanks for the heads up. I had worries this might effect us and after doing some research seems like most places are out of stock. Best I could find for 54R was $202 shipped for 880rnds at aimsurplus. It'll go nice ontop of my two other crates I have

I think this is an unnecessary panic, but I thought the same thing about .22 and look how that's turned out. So, I just did exactly what Mannym did, for a total of 4 crates now. This will hopefully last me until Putin is long gone. But there's still a lot of mischief our CIC can do with his "telephone and pen."

Remember what Bush Senior then Clinton did with Chinese arms/ammo imports. The last Chinese Aks to hit these shores were back in the early 90's. And that ban was never reversed. It is not hard to see Obama doing the same for Russian arms and ammo. It gives him an excuse to ban a scary looking black gun. Thankfully, we do have allies that create AK rifles and have surplus ammo (Poland, Bulgaria, etc), but there is something about a Russian AK... 

It might not be a bad time to pick up a Saiga or an Arsenal SGL, etc. 

 

In the interest of full disclosure though, I do have a Saiga 7.62x39 for sale in the classifieds.

Oh yeah, just picked up another pallet of Russkie surplus 5.45x39. At least 7.62x39 has a bunch of domestic suppliers, so I imagine American ammo manufacturers would be able to ramp up production and pick up the slack. 5.45x39 only has Hornady. And it is more than twice the price of Wolf and surplus.
