magnawing 5 Posted June 29, 2014 Stoeger Cougar 8045 .45 ACP SA/DA Decocker/Safety 8+1 Picatinny rail 3.6" barrel This signature is AWESOME!!!
Purple Patrick 638 Posted June 29, 2014 Looks like a nifty little gun congrats! Is it a clone of something?
Vicious 138 Posted June 29, 2014 It looks like a Beretta PX4 Storm / 92 type deal.
hiker88 22 Posted June 29, 2014 Stoeger, a Beretta subsidiary in Turkey, continued the manufacturing of the Beretta Cougar. I almost bought one these in 9mm a few years ago. It's nicely built and very well priced.
magnawing 5 Posted June 29, 2014 I think it uses Storm mags...the ones I've got say "Made in Italy" This is my signature. There are many like it but this one is mine.
Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted June 29, 2014 It used to be the Beretta Cougar. Beretta transferred manufacture and marketing to Stoeger - a subsidiary and the guns are now made in Turkey on Beretta tooling.
checko 180 Posted June 29, 2014 Ohhh. That's nice. I may have to put it on my list
diamondd817 828 Posted June 29, 2014 Its what the Beretta PX4 platform is based on. Notice the rotating barrel. Great guns.
Vlad G 345 Posted June 29, 2014 The Cougar is probably the softest shooting .45 I've ever handled.
W2MC 1,699 Posted June 29, 2014 This the one that was up for sale on Facebook for awhile? I thought it was interesting...gotta tell us all how it shoots!
magnawing 5 Posted June 30, 2014 Yep, it's the one that was on FB. I'll give a range report after I've had a chance to fire it. This signature is AWESOME!!!
remixer 1,645 Posted June 30, 2014 Jeff loved that gun
siderman 1,139 Posted June 30, 2014 I've got the 45 and 9, great guns at a great price. my cx4 shares mags with the 9. BTW, just like the Beretta92 the hammer spring can be replaced with the D spring which slightly reduces the da pull.
magnawing 5 Posted June 30, 2014 Does anyone know if PX4 mags work in this or are the Cougar Mags different?
siderman 1,139 Posted June 30, 2014 px4 mags will not work in the cougar. however if you had a cx4 storm in 45 it too uses the same 8045 mags but Sierra Papa makes a magwell conversion kit to adapt the 45 px4 mags into the storm. They also make8045 mag extensions to hold 15 rds but are crazy priced like over a $100 maybe more!
magnawing 5 Posted June 30, 2014 Ok...here's a range report. Took it to HG after work and threw a box of 230gr Blazers down range. First few were low right, moved to low center then the rest were pretty much centered after I stopped anticipating the shot. Kept em all within about 3"-4" at 7 yards. As for shootability...about the same recoil and muzzle flip as the 9mm HK P30 I was renting there. Grip is comfortable, no slide bites, DA trigger is HEAVYYYYY, SA is sweet though, short take-up that firms up nicely at point of fire, nice crisp release and fairly short reset. Mags are pretty stiff but I'm sure they'll loosen up after a few dozen boxes. This signature is AWESOME!!!

magnawing 5 Posted July 2, 2014 I'm hoping the insurance refund for the bike I sold to finance this comes in soon enough to take advantage of Backwoods Custom Coatings $50 slide special. I'm thinking of getting the US Navy emblem done in yellow on a navy blue slide. This signature is AWESOME!!!
