bry@n 195 Posted December 13, 2015 The e2 or e squared was a trial with a new shorter grip for people to try. That has emerged into Sig using that grip on new guns now and the e2 being phased out. That being said, 229's that have the long extractor will use the 229-1 mags that are 15 rounds. This was accomplished by Sig doing away with the 9mm frame and using the 40sw p229 frame. The 40 frame had a wider mag well hence the 2 added rounds. One other thing is that mecgar was the manufacturer for Sig and they put out a 15 round mag in a non sig marked magazine for the 228 and early 229 folks. Easier to show you then to write. Hope you get the idea.

bry@n 195 Posted December 13, 2015 Fully agree with this. I have 4-p228's for a reason. The p229 was designed around 40sw to begin with. The new p225 looks promising. Prefer the larger trigger guard of he new gun.
Zeke 5,504 Posted December 13, 2015 I'm looking at the 229 because of the 224 But, does a older 229 mag fit the new 229? N4 and bry I appreciate your knowledge thus far
n4p226r 105 Posted December 13, 2015 I haven't personally confirmed but have read the p228 and p229 mags will fit in the p229-1 and function but they will rattle around in there. The p229-1 mags won't work in a older model. Please verify or wait for Bryan to confirm

N4 and bry I appreciate your knowledge thus far I was using the older 228/229 mecgar mags in my 229-1 frame almost exclusively. Never had a problem

bry@n 195 Posted December 14, 2015 Zeke, they do work but I wouldn't trust my life with them. Going to the range, okay but I'd out the right mag in it for self defense purposes.
bry@n 195 Posted December 14, 2015 Food for thought, the 229-1 mag is just a 229 40sw mag with a new follower and spring.
n4p226r 105 Posted December 14, 2015 Another thing to think about. How friggen ugly is that long extractor. Really takes away from a great looking gun. And for no purpose other than to make a MIM part work where a real part used to do a better job.
Zeke 5,504 Posted December 14, 2015 Idk, the only guns I think are ugly are the blocks.

mikeyboyeee 66 Posted December 18, 2015 I have a 226 9mm i put the E2 grips on when they 1st come out. It's basically a safe queen now as I have a G21 bedside, xdm compact 9 with laser in car and rotate my xdm 40 compact, G19 gen 4, XDs 45 (i carry most due it being so damn hot here), a CM9 and my favorite XDm 40 compact. That being said, i have no intention of getting rid of it. It's a tack driver and the ladies love shooting it due to low recoil. I almost wish it was a 229 so I could put it in the carry rotation. It is probably my softest shooter due to weight and caliber. It is also my only hammer fired gun which makes no difference in how I shoot. n4p226r 105 Posted December 20, 2015 Why am I hung up on .45 for home defense? Same reason people think racking a shotgun slide will get people to turn and run. It's an old school gun idea that can't be changed for some reason

n4p226r 105 Posted December 24, 2015 I'm not saying they are equal, but the idea that 45 is a significantly better caliber for self defense has the same popularity even with no factual evidence to support it. http://concealednation.org/2014/10/fbi-decides-on-9mm-as-their-1-choice-and-have-tons-of-science-behind-their-decision/
