Lambo2936 297 Posted August 23, 2016 So, i've been both trying to buy as well as trying to sell some stuff.Armslist, and this website, have been fairly dead when it comes to all of the big, scary, rifles, and even handguns? Has anyone else noticed this? Are people really that scared to let go of them before the election? I can't find a single handgun i'm genuinely interested in buying (good condition, good price, good gun), and certainly not any Black rifles. I've also had two rifles up for sale and only gotten a handful of (mostly ridiculous) offers. When i first got my FID there seemed to be a lot more out there, though... It might just be me and my luck (tons for sale when you don't want anything, but when you do all ya hear are crickets). Who knows, haha.
Krdshrk 3,878 Posted August 23, 2016 A lot of people are holding on until they see what happens in the upcoming election. Many people were using Facebook until they locked down the groups. Everyone switched to MeWe - https://mewe.com/group/56ad5c58e4b035bfcf99eb3a
BlueLineFish 615 Posted August 23, 2016 People don't have as much money too spend and don't want to sell for fear they won't be able to afford anything after the election.
Lambo2936 297 Posted August 23, 2016 I'm on the mewe group as well; still fairly crappy. A lot of old beat up stuff noone wants. I think it's the election doing much more to the market than i thought it would. I'd love to see the statistics for how far up gun sales are right now. I just can't bring myself to go pay retail on a firearm. The prices are nuts online.. maybe if i order from buds and pay a transfer fee.

Look at the sales on sites - Dick's has some coming up as well as Cabelas and Bass Pro since hunting season is starting soon. KYGunCo, Primary Arms, CDNN, etc all have sales a lot. Slickguns.com will show some deals as well.
Lambo2936 297 Posted August 23, 2016 Whoops, meant to say the prices are nuts in stores. Dicks occasionally has a good deal, and Cabelas as well as bass pro are both fairly far unfortunately. I'd like to get my hands on a nice Rem 700 and would rather save on a lightly used rifle, but if i cant find something ill wait until Dicks has a sale again and buy one there, i think. They used to have the 700adl or whatever with the scope package for 500$ in black, but now they only have it in crappy grassy camo which i hate, so i have to spring for an SPS or something.. First i have to sell something else, and that doesn't seem to be going too well. I got one decent offer on the M1A, but i think im going to sell the Archangel stock seperately with the extra mags and just sell the rifle itself with the original stock. Doesnt seem like people want to spend money. Crazy, because when i was trying to find an M1A for myself it took FOREVER to find a nice one. Does bass pro in AC have a decent selection? I Don't remember. I hated the fact that they refuse to sell to NJ from their PA store... I'd imagine NJ will only have neutered firearms with no brakes or anything, as they wont want to deal with pinning stocks and barrels.
T Bill 649 Posted August 23, 2016 Last half of August is the second biggest vacation time next to the first two weeks of July. In the south kids are going back to school taking attention away from hobbies. Look for a tick up in the market right after Labor Day. Should be a hot time this fall with election. Also, already seeing a tick up in retailer marketing and pricing as we get closer. Rumor has it the manufacturers are on full all out production from now through the end of the year. I have not really seen any manufacturers getting a little antsy with the coming elections, wonder why? News keeps telling me Hitlary is a shoe in. If I was in the business of manufacturing "evil" items I would be a little worried.

MidwestPX 172 Posted August 23, 2016 Given market conditions and what the industry is expecting as far as the outcome of the election, it's no surprise to me that you aren't finding good deals on potentially endangered species of guns. There's one lower receiver OEM that I know of that is over 200K units backordered right now....
fishnut 2,358 Posted August 23, 2016 I blame it on BlueLineFish he snatched up all the good used stuff
Bt Doctur 188 Posted August 23, 2016 If Hillary wins there will be plenty of blackmarkets open to supply the industry, dont worry

There's at least 5 new in box Stags on there, and seller is flexible. There was a sick new Tavor w/ upgrades yesterday and it lasted minutes. Good deals go fast and there is a few guys who capitalize on that,

wadezky 8 Posted August 26, 2016 Saw the tavor.... sucks, haha. It's funny because I was kicking around the thought of selling my NJ compliant S&W m&p sport 2....I bought it about 6 weeks ago and it's been in the closet since then, never fired yet. Took it out of the box to look at it in my bedroom and then into the closet it went. Bought an extra magazine, about 250 rounds and a case, but haven't touched it since the day I bought it. So I thought maybe I'd just sell it......then tons of people on here told me hang on to it because of what may or may not happen so it seems like most people have that mindset to not sell anything now because of November. Lambo2936 297 Posted August 30, 2016 Yeah.. sucks! Im not the only one who noticed though that the market has been very dry lately. Only stuff on the market for long is odd firearms with a small market or old crap noone wants. I found a fantastic deal on an AR on mewe and said id take it but someone buying ammo off the guy bitched about not getting a response soon enough or something and blew shit up and the guy left. Tried FB messaging but havent heard back :/ if i sold the sight on it id have had an AR for like 400-500$.
