Polynesian grilled meat loaf

Recommended Posts

Want to know what sounds interesting? Pork roll and pineapple on a nice Kaiser roll, maybe with the roll ever so slightly toasted.  The salty greasiness of the pork roll combining with the cool sweetness of the pineapple.  We can call it the "How Ya' Doin' Hawaiian Breakfast Sandwhich"!

Maybe even grill the pineapple a little!

I think I just created a thing!

So you basically would have a couple of slices of pineapple on a toasted roll since pork roll doesn't exist.

It may not be half bad if you swirl the pineapple on a skilled with a little butter, finish it off with a little rum, quarter it, put it in a bowl and spoon off some vanilla ice cream on top. Two scoops, of course.

Feed the bread to the birds.

But is Spam meat?

I'm with Zeke.  Pineapple meatballs, Hawaiin pizza, pear glazed pork chops, cranberries and turkey together heaped high on the fork!  I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!

Spam is mostly pork shoulder.  It was invented in the 30s by Hormel as pork shoulder was not a popular cut of meat.

Spam came to prominence in WW2 when we needed some type of canned meat to feed our troops and allies throughout the world.  It became very popular in places where they had a lack of refrigeration and ate a lot of pork.  It became popular in Hawaii, the Phillipines, and other places in the Pacific and remains so to this day.  Also popular in Vietnam where they got their taste if Spam in the 60s and 70s.

Not a healthy meat.  But it is meat.

So, whipped up a little something last night.  We had some left overs which had to be eaten first so cooked the meatloaf about 75% last night.

Wife will be putting in oven to finish cooking it this evening and she will meet me at the front door this evening with a smile holding a tumbler of whiskey, a cigar and the delicious aroma of meatloaf wafting through the air.  Well.....maybe just a smile and wafting aroma.  :)

Will provide both our reviews later.

I still maintain that anybody that mixes in fruit with their food is committing a atrocity

This does not compute.

That was good.  I've never had meatloaf that almost melts in your mouth!

If you're saying that in a vain, misguided attempt to finally put an end to this thread... I think you have seriously underestimated his Pineapple Fever.

What’s lasted longer?  This thread or Zeke’s leftovers?

Aha! See it was that the fruit with meat that did it.

See, Zeke your meatloaf almost poisoned this guy.

Let this be a warning for the rest of you.

    • We never let then inside.  Last re-evaluation was 6-7 years ago, wife politely told him that he was welcome to look around the property and he could look in the windows. He saw two white resin chairs in the basement and told her that this constituted a finished basement. And everything in the basement is bare concrete/ cinder block, and mechanical systems. Nothing finished about it. Ultimately he relented and I'm sure that was a ploy to coerce us to allow him in

    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
