Ruger Precision Rifle 6.5 PRC - Video Premier 9PM

Recommended Posts

It's an accurate rifle out-of-the-box for the money.

I would recommend replacing the MIM cocking piece. It's a known problem on the RPR. Anarchy Outdoors has a nice billet replacement.

Ruger just announced the brand new Ruger 57 pistol.  There were a few rumors but it is here.  Totally impressed that Ruger did this... totally did not expect it.  I just got the gun a few weeks ago and enjoyed every moment!
Looking forward to getting a few thousand rounds downrange.

I also covered yesterday's announcement of the Ruger LCP II in 22 LR...

So after discovering that I can search the Ruger site by caliber... I found this guy... the American Ranch in 7.62x39.

So besides that it is cheap... wondering... why?
I suppose for hunting and cheap ammo?
In any case... lol. yes. I will be requesting one to test when I am done with the current batch.

Finally had the chance to spend a good amount of time with the gun.  At this price point, there is no reason not to get one!

Some of you were aware or may have caught my post discussing some long range guns.
Early last week I had the pleasure of being flown out to the middle of nowhere in Texas, to the FTW Ranch, to shoot some upcoming rifles in a joint event with Ruger, Leupold and Hornady.
Most of the guns I have shot are not yet released and cannot talk about them, but one of them, I can.  It is the Ruger Hawkeye Long Range Target in 6.5 PRC.  The gun was released at Shot Show, earlier this year and is now available in 300 Win Mag, 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC.
The event was really a 3 day shooting class where we used the new firearms.  They were brand new, and in a few cases prototypes.  They were production guns, not messed with and were straight out of the boxes.  We shot the guns at ranges from 250 to 2,300 yards with Hornady match ammo.  The optics were Leupold Mark 5HD 5-25 scopes.
Working on the full video but here is a teaser of me shooting it at 1,200 and 1,400 yards.  1st shot hit on 1,200, took 2 on 1,400.  Unfortunately did not hit at 1,600 as the round was no longer supersonic and the winds were hell.
I was just blown away personally, that a gun with a $1,279 MSRP and a $1,000 or so street price was good enough to maintain sub MOA at those distances.

    • Needed a big brother to my P365......
    • For anyone that might be curious. I picked up a flat trigger Saturday. Started to take apart the FCU on Sunday to install it. Go to the point where I needed to remove the pin that holds the trigger in place.....and noticed no hole in the new trigger....wrong trigger. The guy at the shop that pulled it off the wall didn't realize it and neither did I. Had some trouble putting everything back together, but figured it out. Went back to the shop today to do an exchange. I was 5th in line outside (shop only allows three in the store at once). About 20-25 min wait to get in, in and out in about a minute. Had to be a dozen people outside waiting to get in when I left.
    • Too bad you couldn't get up and running six months ago. I think you'd be doing some good business about now based on what I've seen at another LGS. I think I already wished you well, if not, Best Wishes, more LGS in NJ is definitely a good thing in my eyes.
    • I reached out to the trooper in charge of my case.   He's still waiting for fingerprints to come back.  However we have a tentative date for initial inspection on Friday, 6/6 at 9am!!!   Things are moving again.  Thank God.
