DPNJ 3 Posted May 26, 2009 Waiting on a new set of Pp's, so using this time to determine what caliber I may want. I have a 9mm , on one hand I'm thinking I should get another 9mm this way I don't have to search for different ammo all the time. 9mm is pretty available. On the other hand I'm thinking let's try something new, maybe get used to the recoil of a different caliber. Any suggestions on how you guys decided if you have ever made this decision
Malsua 1,422 Posted May 26, 2009 For the sheer amount of practice you can get done, a .22 pistol should be in your mix. After that, buy them for how you intend to use them. Night stand, concealed etc.

Night stand, concealed etc. +1 on that. .22 is about the only ammo "easy" to find and is a lot cheaper...for now. However, I have two 9MM handguns thinking that 9MM will always be around because of government use, etc. Also, I figured having one caliber would be easier to keep track of. However, 9mm is getting hard to find. I knew I should have went with my gut and got the .40 S&W (XD40). I see that ammo at Walmart's all the time...$26 for the 100 value pack of Winchester. Anyway, that's my take on it...
hotshot 4 Posted May 27, 2009 i would recomend a 1911 in .45... a .22 is not a bad idea also

Maksim 1,504 Posted May 27, 2009 +3 on the 22lr. You know where I stand. I emptied a box of 22lr through the two 22's and great fun. Best part about it, you can really make it work for you, and improves your shooting.

Any suggestions on how you guys decided if you have ever made this decision I have 3 pp's on the way. One is slated for a 22, either a Ruger Mark 3 or a Buckmark, depending more on how much $$ i have at the time as I would prefer the Mark III. The second will probably be a 1911. The third will be for my discretion, possibly a 380, possibly a revolver, or whatever else I stumble upon.

Since I got my 22A I shoot 2-3 times as much .22 ammo as I do 9mm For the money its just hard to pass up.
Malsua 1,422 Posted May 27, 2009 either a Ruger Mark 3 I love my Mark 2. I've been shooting a Mark II for 25 years(step dad). I bought my own in the early 90s and have only had to add a Volquartsen Exact Edge Extractor to it after it started to stove pipe once in a while. It's a great gun. I added a red dot scope to mine and it's really accurate. I love it.
Chad 3 Posted May 27, 2009 After the .22 and the 1911 I'd go with a nice revolver. If you are not into wheel guns do you have any interest in glocks? They make some nice .40 cal. I like that round, its not big, not small. I have the Glock 27 in .40 Although I dont care for the gun (too small), I like the caliber.

1911Fan 1 Posted May 29, 2009 I would say you must add a 357 Magnum Revolver - Everyone has to have at least one. I would go Ruger over the Smiths with a lawyer lock, but everyone has their preference. Then I would make it an immediate priority to get a good quality 1911 and a quality .22 conversion kit for it, but you knew that was coming from my screen name. (I will be happy to talk 1911's if you have any questions BTW-just pm me) Happy Shopping!
