NJJim 37 Posted February 22, 2010 I have Verizon Fios. It has been hit or miss for the last couple of weeks for me. My connection is nearly as it should be at 20 mb down and 5 mb up for locations on the East Coast. But, anywhere west and the speeds drop to 4-14 mb down and 300k to 1400k up. Anyone else experiencing this?
Maksim 1,504 Posted February 22, 2010 mine has been a bit slower too.... time for speed test... You are right, going west... it is alot slower. Cali is alot slower.

Springfield1911 22 Posted February 22, 2010 FiOS sucks. Worst decision I ever made. Contract is almost up. I always ask why they need a commitment for a year? Now I know why. Optimum never made me commit to a contract for a year. Never will I switch again.
Maksim 1,504 Posted February 22, 2010 I wish I could get optimum. It is comcast hell here only. So Fios is much better. And by far best TV HD quality.
Brisco 130 Posted February 22, 2010 It did seem like ammo to go(Texas) was very slow earlier today But, I guess not
NJJim 37 Posted February 22, 2010 Looks like it is the Verizon network. Maks, you have the same type results I got with similar speed tests. I have emailed Verizon but don't expect anything to come of it. When I was on DSL and had issues with speeds and connection by the time I got to talk to someone at verizon, the connection would miraculously get better. It always stayed bad until I gave in and called to complain.
Maksim 1,504 Posted February 22, 2010 tx was fairly quick though...

Urban Grunt 44 Posted February 22, 2010 I was getting 25/20 until i ran windows 7,verizon fios is NOT configured with windows 7.From Verizon web page a fix is out end of Jan 2010.
71ragtopgoat 23 Posted February 22, 2010 Clifton Canada Heck is that slow .What can I run to make it faster. I use xp.
NJJim 37 Posted February 22, 2010 Checked again with Speedtest.net and results are about the same. I expect to get 18-20 Mb/s anywhere in the lower 48 states. I used to get that. They want me to upgrade my service and pay more for faster speeds. I told them I would be happy if they delivered what I pay for.
Melgamatic 66 Posted February 22, 2010 Hotel service is pretty darn good.... But at nearly $30 a day, it should be...

rscalzo 3 Posted February 22, 2010 Comcast Internet - NH By the way, anyone that is a customer of Comcast HSI can get a free Wireless N router. I ordered mine through their website yesterday. All that is charged to your account is a $9.95 shipping charge. No monthly charges.
Guest Posted February 22, 2010 I have cable...how fast is fios compared to optimum? I never get anywhere near that with my Optimum Online..... Not sure why we get such quick speeds here....its usually that quick.

SpecOps2087 3 Posted February 22, 2010 The big difference with fios and cable is fios allows a LOT of upload speed where as cable limits that but allows a lot of download (and that's the inherent flaw in cable internet)
Maksim 1,504 Posted February 22, 2010 spec... cable uncapped can be that high. we were all fed the fios bs. =) I have fios at home, optimum in the office.... at times... optimum alot better.
SpecOps2087 3 Posted February 22, 2010 Not sure why we get such quick speeds here....its usually that quick. It's what your paying for. You have the opt online "ultra" which is up to 100MB/s where as he must have the basic internet package
