Dick's in Paramus

Recommended Posts

Nothing in the firearms area except cleaning stuff.

Yea the store is across the parking lot from Ramsey Outdoor. I saw a bunch of Ramsey employees snooping around, or looking for a job...

I was shocked that they would allow 2 similar stores so close. Waiting to see who goes out of business first

Well that's f'd up. Lint licker of a land lord is an uber D-Bag for allowing that. On the other hand healthy competition might work out for us. I'll all for supporting local shops, but I'm not for paying 15.99 for a box of 9mm when it's 8.97 at Wally World in PA.

AWWW DAMN!!! I wasnt going to say anything about the ammo store in my backyard, but you guys found it too...They dont have their state Lic but do have their federal one (figures) yet and therefore no ammo or guns yet. I was told this weekend they would be set.

Ramsey cant compete on ammo prices or gun prices...but ramsey's does sell pistols at about 50$ more than anyone else....

My money is on Dick's as they just give you the discount when in doubt...I love that store...

Well I am just hoping that the guys in the gun dept. in Ramsey outdoor don't get a job at Dicks... :snooty:

I'd put a complaint in with corporate if that were the case. I was there Wednesday and I had the guy with the brown curly hair. If you're a member here I'm sorry but your attitude sucks. Even if you don't have what I'm looking for it's rude to interrupt someone halfway through a sentence. And saying you have 9mm with a condescending tone after I ask if you have it wasn't nice either. Especially since you were standing in front of the 2 boxes of 9mm that you had on the shelf...:naughty:

As of Wed. April 21 no ammo. The guy said they will not be carrying pistols. Only rifles and shotguns.

Got a postcard in the mail for $10 off a $25 or more purchase but ammo and firearms are excluded. Rats! Waiting for the one in Wayne to open up since its closer to home. They will be very close to the Sports Authority which doesnt bother me since I am not a huge fan of that store.

Agreed. If no pistols, then I'll stop by for cheap ammo, maybe cleaning supplies. If there's no pistol dept., then where's the thrill of trying one on for size?

If you're up north there's Davis Sports Shop, but I don't know if they carry pistols. Personally I'd rather drive to the Bullet Hole than go to Ramsey Outdoor. It's only an extra 15 min drive for me.

Buying a handgun in NY at Davis means you'd have to get it shipped to a FFL in NJ.

If you're in Paramus, Meltzers in Garfield is only 15 minutes away, they have plenty of handguns to try.

I go to Meltzers alot but never get any kind of deal from them. I've bought all 3 handguns there and my shotgun and still nothing. I been trying to find a new place thats close by.

Davis does carry alot of handguns for good deals but having em shipped to jersey kind of kills the fact that they were good deals. They still have good deals on ammo though.

Dont be afraid to use the coupon. I have used it on many occasions to purchase ammo.

Nitro talk to the guy in Davis about transferring. He told me they will transfer to Thunder Mountain FREE and also FREE transfer if you buy a gun from them. It has to go to Thunder Mountain though.

Yes, they have a deal with Thunder Mountain which works out great for us NJ gun owners. Talk to Kevin Grey at Davis, he is the manager of the gun dept and a personal friend of mine. He will set you up with the best deal. Also, Everett who works at the Goshen Davis store does all their internet sales. He is a good guy to deal with as well.

I used to buy my guns at Meltzers but they are pretty tight with their prices so I dont buy from them anymore unless they have a sweet deal on a used gun. I got a barely used Glock 17 there for $400 a couple years ago. The guys there are nicest enough to show you the guns but I dont think they have the authority to discount anything.

    • I use an Alien Gear cloak tuck (IWB) with my Shield.  Neoprene back - in the summer it does feel warm but doesn't rub or chafe.   https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-iwb-holster.html Could also go with the shapeshift as it has multiple options - OWB/IWB, Appendix... https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-shapeshift-modular-holster-system.html
    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
