Storing Guns

I store most of my guns in silicone treated socks. However, some of my newer handguns came in plastic cases with foam inserts. Do most of you leave the guns in the foam inserts or remove and store them in some other way?

Mike, I take mine of of cases and put them on a rack in the safe

I put a coat of rem oil on them and store out in the open... gotta be able to get at them quickly in case the zombie horde arrives

My experience is foam eventually deteroriates and sticks to things you don't want it to. I use the silicone socks.
