Old Bridge USPSA 1-22-12

Recommended Posts

Can you use a 22 for this match? I have never shot from a holster so this would be a first for me. I tried two steel matches at old bridge and had a blast. I also had a great time on Monday, thank you everyone for being so informative and letting me shoot some really cool guns!!

I know the weather isn't looking great at this time but was wondering if there is a chance we will still have a match tomorrow, looks like it will be sunny tomorrow and a high of 35 just the ground conditions might not be optimum depending on if we get any rain to wash some of this white crap away.. Fingers crossed....

I went to the indoor practice match last night. The weather was the main topic, it seemed like they were leaning towards cancelling but, nothing definite. If you don't get an e-mail, I would call the hotline in the AM before heading out.

I'm hoping the roads are plowed and ok by the morning. I'm not trying to make my trip out there 2 hours haha.

I don't see why they wouldn't have the match if the roads are clear and it's not snowing. I don't think snow on the ground is a reason for cancellation. Snow matches are SO much fun!

It is not just the conditions for us to shoot in, but also the conditions to set up in and tear down in. It is hard enough to get people to help tear down. When the weather is bad almost everyone leaves after their last shot. It is not fair for the 5 or 6 people that stay to help tear down the match. If the match is a go I will be there.

Per the OBCATS website, the match is cancelled....

It's not just about folks getting there, and set-up/tear down.....

We also have to consider the likelihood of injury during the match due to range conditions. No one likes to cancel a match -- but sometimes it is prudent. Hope to see you all in February!

    • I use an Alien Gear cloak tuck (IWB) with my Shield.  Neoprene back - in the summer it does feel warm but doesn't rub or chafe.   https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-iwb-holster.html Could also go with the shapeshift as it has multiple options - OWB/IWB, Appendix... https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-shapeshift-modular-holster-system.html
    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
