SpecialK 193 Posted February 18, 2012 Got my new Colt Series 70 about a week ago. Just figured I'd share some pictures of it with ya guys. Feel free to discuss why the Series 70 is by far the best 1911 ever
njJoniGuy 2,133 Posted February 18, 2012 Because it's just as John M Browning made it, without the extra lever, spring and plunger.
lunker 274 Posted February 18, 2012 I got the same one. it's a great gun and an excellent base if you ever decide to modify .
John Fox 5 Posted February 18, 2012 I have two - a government model and a gold cup. They are great!
SpecialK 193 Posted February 18, 2012 I got the same one. it's a great gun and an excellent base if you ever decide to modify . No need for modifications for me. I do not have large webbing in my hand, so no need to put a beaver tail on it which makes you have to put what I call the tic-tac hammer on it. My gunsmith is a 1911 genius, so I will be having the trigger worked on slightly and he said he can better fit the extractor, but I fell in love on valentines day hen I picked her up they way she is. SpecialK 193 Posted February 18, 2012 Congrats!!! Everybody who loves 1911's should have a Colt. This is my first and I am sure there will be more in the future. I have a feeling another Series 70 might be my second one as well. It just fits and works in my hands in the right way.

Old School 611 Posted February 19, 2012 Because it's just as John M Browning made it, without the extra lever, spring and plunger. +100 that transfer linkage F's up the trigger of a good pistol. My Series 80 has that BS removed and a spacer plate installed.

papercutninja 24 Posted February 19, 2012 The Series 70 to me is one of the few remaining "correct" 1911A1 pistols on the market. I feel like most of the ones out there are either too loose, too tight or just plain too expensive. Great in stock form and not *so* valuable/collectible that it'd be a shame to modify. papercutninja 24 Posted February 19, 2012 And that's the way to wear it. Everyone should have one and wear it like that.

lunker 274 Posted February 19, 2012 How are they Chris? Nice as the '70's vintage pistols? I love it. Fit and quality is top notch. The only thing that gets me is the hammer bite. I need to get a bobbed or commander hammer. I want to keep the look original (i.e. nothing skeletonized).
Ray Ray 3,566 Posted February 20, 2012 BTW Ray Ray I sold the Kel-Tec and my G19 to fund this one. You've chosen wisely sir.
