No More Handwritten Forms Accepted by Bayonne P.D.

Recommended Posts

Just checked out the revised BPD page for the ABC/permits division and see they are no longer accepting handwritten FID or PP forms. I don't know the legality of this change and was wondering if any other PD's have this requirement?

While I won't have a problem dealing with it, I shouldn't have to deal with it. For those applicants without PC's (and I'm sure there are a handful of them out there), it is just another obstacle put in their way, IMO.

2C:58-3,f which states, in part:

There shall be no conditions or requirements added to the form or content of the

application, or required by the licensing authority for the issuance of a permit or identification card, other than those that are specifically set forth in this chapter.

Think that pretty well covers it

I just did my application for FID in Jersey City and I was required to type out the NJSP form as well, no hand written forms would be accepted. The rest of the forms in the packet were ok for print, just not the first form. I found it odd but typed it up anyway.

I was there just the other week and they gave me a packet, including the form for my fingerprints, that needed to be filled out. The packet included the FID application, mental health form, and the consent forms. Strangely, although I had a typed out FID form, Det Donaway told me to fill out the copied FID form anyway.

on the NJSP website you can type in the fields on all of the forms. So maybe they want everyone to use those forms instead of printing and copying them. However what if your in your 60's with no P.C.'s

i tried this with my town, Brick, and they wouldn't accept the NJSP form, it was a different revision from what my PD used :roulette:

I would always prefer typed forms. People have horrendous handwriting. I myself type everything because my handwriting sucks. I have a hell of a time reading witness statements so the more that's typed the better. To me it's really not a big deal.

What is a big deal is requiring that they be done by a specific method. Give'em an inch...

The Statists are at it,again. If they remove the BS OGAM rule I will gladly type of my form, or if the permits are valid for 365 days.

If it is NOT a big deal, then good for you! Scan away!

If you want it typed, then provide an incentive such as if the Police Departments and the state receive them typed, the the submitter should receive an extra 2 months on the permits, or something... a shortened time, etc.

I'm going to call the C of P tomorrow and ask if the detectives's bureau is going to provide a PC and printer for those applicants without access to them. Again, I feel this is all about roadblocking and has nothing to do with increasing efficiency in that office.

They will probably send you to the public library to use their computers where the words "gun" and "Firearm" are content blocked LOL

I was encouraged to do the same in east windsor. The detective that does firearms here told me it was to make sure he could read and understand everything I wrote down. I told him my handwriting is good and he told me thats fine then. It could be as simple as that. If you have good penmanship I dont see it being a problem.

I know you're kidding, but that is JUST Kafka-esque enough to be true here in Bayonne.

    • We never let then inside.  Last re-evaluation was 6-7 years ago, wife politely told him that he was welcome to look around the property and he could look in the windows. He saw two white resin chairs in the basement and told her that this constituted a finished basement. And everything in the basement is bare concrete/ cinder block, and mechanical systems. Nothing finished about it. Ultimately he relented and I'm sure that was a ploy to coerce us to allow him in

    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
