Not that I'm waving a big #$%^ but besides the flags displayed I have several shadow boxes that are impressive.

I've seen similar articles from other places.. but usually it revolves around the Homeowners/Condo association rules. In those cases the HOA asked the homeowner to remove a flag based on the rules of that HOA. I can side with the HOA in those cases. There should not be exceptions based on it being a flag, or the person flying it. Rules are rules.

 

This case there is some question. Did management actually say that they "wanted it to be removed so it didn't offend anybody who didn't believe in the American flag," or is that the wife's interpretation?

 

If they did put it that way, and for that reason then something is seriously wrong with the HOA's priorities and outlook..

In Jersey you'd have a far better chance of getting Constitutional Carry than ending political correctness BS.

 

I think we need a Reverse-Free State Project. Instead of getting all freedom-loving Constitutionalists to concentrate in one location for effect, get all of the productive and freedom loving people to simply leave Jersey where their identity is smothered by the unwashed Communist masses and move to anywhere at all so their voices can be heard and they can make a contribution.

I've read about this happening a number of times. Each time equally as ridiculous. I say this a lot, and it is almost ironic that I say it ironically. The only thing that offends me is when people get offended. You do NOT have the right to be offended. That is ridiculous! "Hey, you can't have an American Flag (Confederate flag, basketball hoop, children's painting, cross, purple unicorn statue, etc) there because I might look at it and I hate America (Confederacy, basketball, kids, religion, the color purple/mythical creatures, etc)!"

That house is great. My HOA does not have anything against flags and many people do fly them (I do 24/7). It looks great on Memorial day or Veterans day when a good % of the places are flying US Flags. If I were looking to move somewhere and saw this, I would see this as a plus. That being said I will try to avoid an HOA in the next place I live because of the PC BS like in the story.

Because of the PC BS or the sheer cost most of them incur? I've never lived anywhere that had a HOA but in talking to friends theirs is the equivalent of a car payment.. Ouch!

 

The flag-thing is at least a little more black and white then some other examples of HOA-Gone-Wild I've heard. A friend got "written up" by his HOA for having his screen door the wrong shade of green.

Mostly the potential PC BS. Just another level of bureaucratic crap. I understand the community not wanting someone in the development to paint their house safety orange, but is that really a problem? Enough so to justify all this nanny pandering to the hypersensitive PC crowd? Nope. Home of the free.

 

I do see value to my HOA dues because I don't shovel, mow, paint, landscape, etc. It's not just going to the paint-police.

Not to bring this up again but i just need to vent about this. I manage a business and above me there are the owners who rarely show up. So today one employee (who i manage) tries to hang a small Puerto Rican Flag and i made him take it down. I told him with all respect you have to take that down. The only flag that will be flown on this property is the American flag. I told him no if and or buts it has to come down. Now he brings it up to one of the owners and he says i don't have time to deal with this crap just forget let it go. The worker went on to say that i am a racist for not allowing that and its ridiculous and that i have problems. I simply told him to leave it down or one of us wont have a job anymore because i will not work here and allow that. Any opinions on this?

Around 2ft by 4ft. But personallyi dont think the size of the flag matters. I think if you love that country so much that you want to hang their flag then go back there. If your in America theres a reason your here.

Trust me.... I find it annoying and ignorant when all I see if a flag other than my countries flown all around my city. Car hoods are painted, back widow mesh flags.... The list goes on.

What I was getting at is the size of the flag.

If it was a little 2inch table flag.... Screw it... That is their history... Possibly the flag they grew up with if they lived in PR.

If it was a 4'x2' flag plastered where it couldn't be missed, and created a distraction... That's a different story.

We all have the right to show our nationality off.... How many Italians flag stickers do you see on the backs of cars, down by me there is a large amount of confederate flags flown proudly.

I guess it all comes down to how much effort do you feel like putting into fighting it?

I already have a few American Flags hanging around the property. 2 painted in murals on the building. And even hang one the roof of a crane everyday. And no it came down and i will not let him put it up. I personally would loose my job over this matter if it came down to it. However i dont think that would happen as the owners love the American flags on display here.

How about you come manage where I work..... I'm sick and tired of dealing with illegals crapping up my work day. I can't even sit and enjoy lunch with out being surrounding by a language other than English.

What industry are you in? Im surrounded by other languages too. Where i work im the only one who doesn't speak Spanish but my employees all are legal, even get benefits. I work 60 plus hrs a week and at all times in one direction or the other i hear a different language. They even tried to put a radio on playing Spanish music. I the the radio out since they wouldn't leave English music on.

Can always do like I did with my guys. Insist that if they are standing around you, out of respect for you, they must speak English as it is rude not to do so. I've very rarely gotten any lip as long as I remained polite. I've actually gotten apologies that way.

 

Now I know you shouldn't have to, but that's the way it must be sometimes.

Hopefully eventually, it sinks in with them.

You guys do realize Puerto Rico is part of the USA and a Puerto Rican flag would like the equivalent of a state flag...
