Friend's house washed away during Sandy, trying to win wedding.

Recommended Posts

A close friend of mine's Niece and her Fiancée were wiped out during Sandy. We're trying to win them a "dream wedding".

If you could just click this link http://blog.theknot.com/2013/01/07/the-knot-dream-wedding-contest/ and Click on Samatha And Christopher...we can maybe win this for them. My friend Joe is their uncle and here is the message he sent this out to his friends. He's got a more personal reason for wanting them to win...both his daughters are in the wedding and he doesn't want to fly them to Aruba for the wedding. lol.

No login, no registering or anything like that is required. Just two clicks. Thanks!

This isn't a scam or malware or any such thing. I know these people.

Hello all,

So I have a little story to share with you all and hope that you can help!

My Niece Samantha (24) and her fiancée Chris (28) are residents of Staten Island, NY and originally planned to say their “I do’s” during a destination wedding in Aruba.

Due to recent tragic events, most of their home (along with their wedding budget), was washed away by Hurricane Sandy.

The pair's focus has shifted from planning their wedding to rebuilding their home.

TheKnot.com is throwing the ultimate dream wedding contest set for Valentine's Day in Bryant Park, NY and Samantha & Chris BECAME 1 of 5 FINALISTS as of today!!

After everything they've been through, winning this wedding would be a dream come true for them!

Ill pass this along to my travel club team and see what they can do for them. Just give me a few hours to get that up on our team web site. Hopefully putting it in front of an addition couple thousand people will help them. After all we in the club try and help people all over the world as well as make people's dreams come true.

Done and posted on my team site also, is there any way for them to know how they are doing while the contest is in progress??

I'm unaware of that. I think we'll find out this week at some point after it's all done. Voting closes Wednesday.

Ok Mark, keep us posted on how they do, hope this last push will get them over the top..

yeah, I hope. During the first rounds of voting you had to register and it was a bit of a process to vote, but them being on the news helped a bunch plus all the family and close friends got it done.

I saw some pictures of their house right before the Hurricane...new floors, new kitchen, etc and then the bottom half of the house fills with saltwater.. It's been tough enough them being homeless, dealing with all the demo and getting replacement vehicles, and etc. I can't think of someone that would deserve it more.

I'll update this thread once we know.

    • Ignoring the Duty To Inform, this is definately going to be used against us CCW holders during the current court hearings.  Drinking and randomly shooting a gun out the window does not paint a good picture for CCW holders.
    • Getting a non-threaded barrel is easy.  I'd definitely consider it as having a form of a shroud for #3.  The question is does it actually violate #1?  If so is there another chassis option that does not have mag holder VFG?
    • So, as I interpret things, you get a hit on #1. It says nothing about feeding from said magazine, just that the magazine attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip. And it is attached. Was this what was considered when it was written? 100% no. However, this is NJ and I don't think they would give you an inch when as written it covers it in plain english.  #2 would be a hard yes if you put a threaded barrel on your setup, so I'd not do that.  #3... well it's not a shroud, but it does allow you to hold the firearm with the nontrigger hand without being burned. Shroud is ill defined, and it could be argued to partially enshroud the barrel from the bottom. I would bet cash money that the AG would gladly say that second part there is to clarify the intent of the law and that since you can do that, you violated the stated intent of the law.
    • I don't know why we ( NJ gun organizations ) have not yet filed a lawsuit on "duty to inform"  A clear violation of the constitution 5th and probably 4th.  Maybe this guys lawyer will and get that charge dropped.  what other right do you need to inform a law enforcement officer of.    are you required to identify as a republican or democrat during an encounter, and by the way,  what constitutes an encounter.  voluntary? involuntary?   time to get this one knocked down. come on ANJRPC stop waiting for court decisions and go on the attack.
