TheSingularity 0 Posted January 14, 2013 NJ probably will only go to a 10 round maximum mag restriction. So, slightly better situation than NY. But I hear that the downside is NJ will likely enact an IFM requirement to go along with the 10 round restriction.

Cmon, don't spread rumors. Look at the laws proposed, and then lets do something about it. Gun shop conjecture does nothing. matty 810 Posted January 14, 2013 Jined up, now I am a member of 3 different states' gun rights orgs! We are next. If you can afford it (I'll argue you can't afford not to) join the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, they are leading the charge against all the proposed NY bans. When it's our turn we will need help from people across the country. $25 to join http://www.nysrpa.or...id=79&Itemid=88 Or donate: https://www.kintera....JSMAJkKSI5PIKtF
TheSingularity 0 Posted January 14, 2013 IFM? Inward Facing Muzzle. The rifle must be altered so that the muzzle points directly back at the person pulling the trigger.
Bob2222 317 Posted January 14, 2013 IFM = Intentional Firearm Microstamping. South Carolina, Pennsylvania or Delaware are looking better and better, and not just from a retiree's tax standpoint.
intercooler 41 Posted January 14, 2013 well if you look at the blue states as a group, it certainly APPEARS that they are reacing each other to see who can screw the legal gun owners the most...so far...CT is way ahead...they want only 1 round capacity
TheSingularity 0 Posted January 14, 2013 Yes - it was a joke! LOL - but the point is, who knows what restrictive absurdity lies ahead. Hoping for the best and remaining vocal for sure.
JonF 79 Posted January 14, 2013 Oh buy, could you imagine the day that your 10 round SKS stripper clip is federal contraband that would land you in 'pound me in the ass' prison? As ridiculous as all the arbitrary gun restrictions go, the notion that that small piece of sheet metal is so evil it must be federally banned is especially laughable. lol
quikz 34 Posted January 15, 2013 The countdown to ZERO begins. Even after that, NY will prolly go into negative 1 round or two. Nj, of course, the lap dog of NY....
mipafox 438 Posted January 15, 2013 The difference is that was actually a good law to impliment. Please stay in NJ.
halbautomatisch 60 Posted January 15, 2013 But I agree someone will start making NY compliant mags...*IF* it passes................ I'm not sure that all that many companies will make 7 round mags (particularly handgun mags), NY has super crappy handgun regs that make NJ look really good. The laws there go a long way to discourage handgun sales........I think they are largely going to be screwed.
halbautomatisch 60 Posted January 15, 2013 It would be the ultimate irony if this passes and gets challenged up to SCOTUS, and then gets struck down taking along all the other AWBs down in the country.
mcbethr 42 Posted January 15, 2013 Wasn't it last week when the NJ state assemblyman from Mercer county said she would like to ban all semi autos and only allow muskets? jamesbod 0 Posted January 15, 2013 7 round mags? relax just get a belt & mag holders holding 12 mags on you.
ruger9 0 Posted January 15, 2013 I don't know if a bunch of other states will follow suit (if the does indeed pass in NY), but methinks it's time for a little civil disobedience.
Knuckle Sandwich 5 Posted January 15, 2013 Word is Cuomo is locking the doors and forcing a vote tonight. 7 round mag cap, 10 firearm limit per person, etc. I hit up a bunch of email addresses, I'm going to share here if anyone wants to do the same. kman 56 Posted January 15, 2013 7 round limit means all NRA Standard Pistol target competitions are impossible. Timed Fire - 10 rounds in 20 seconds Rapid Fire - 10 rounds in 10 seconds How do you do that with a 7 round magazine? It's like the legislature changing the shape of the football. It's absurd for any number of reasons, but certainly at the very least legitimate target practice ought to be a consideration on magazine size. You might not need 10 rounds to get a deer, but you certainly need it to compete in an NRA Standard Pistol match.

bravozulu14 0 Posted January 15, 2013 And Go where? If the state bans start passing it will give more weight to federal bans. If we don't care enough to help others then we can't expect others to care about us. We really need to unite and support each other as gun owners. Stand up or lie down......your choice. ^ this. BCeagle 12 Posted January 15, 2013 10 firearm limit per household ?????????? May have an equal protection argument there. Single guy can have ten but a married couple is also limited to ten. Seems like you are prejudicing individuals based on marital status.
M4BGRINGO 139 Posted January 15, 2013 New York certainly has some strange gun laws. They grandfathered high capacity mags for AK-variants, NJ did not. I have a friend that legally owns some and told him he can not bring them to NJ unless he is an FFL, which he is not. He can not buy new ones from PA though. How all that works, I have no clue. He has waited almost a year to get a pistol purchase permit, he described the process, makes NJ look like a free state!

9X19 125 Posted January 15, 2013 May I offer a suggestion... I want to laugh at this post but at the same time I want to cry...Insane how when most of the country is talking hi cap mags they mean 30 rd Glock mags are 30+ AR mags. What the hell is the reasoning behind this? 3 less rounds WTF?? 10 rounds are already the most restrictive mag caps in the country. Let us hope the best for NY and NJ, and as a matter of fact every single state.Hunters have to wake up and smell the coffee on this one!! We will all be effected down the line if any of this passes into law.
