*Accidental* GSW at Monmouth County Rifle and Pistol

Recommended Posts

I would wager that this is a new gun owner, no experience, bad safe practices, etc...

So many newbies out there that rushed to buy a gun, it wouldn't surprise me.

Cops also have accidental discharges

I'll also take a guess. Shooting yourself in the foot may have been caused if the shooter points the barrel down while he or she has a finger on the trigger & racks the slide to reload or clearing a malfunction

That range is for law enforcement only. Not open to the public.

Not a great bet. We haven't taken many new members in 6+ months, so the victim or shooter is probably not brand new. However, they do retired officer recertifications on Thursdays (great income for the club), and that's where I'd put my money!

If the shooting was not at the private club, Please edit the title. MCRPC isn't even on rt 33 so if the map is accurate, it was at the county municipal range for police/fire, etc for official use only.

Ok not to make light of this and I sure hope who ever it is is ok, being it seems that isn't not a life threatning injury to the foot from what's been said.

So before someone else get it out there and you know it's going to be said:

Wonder if it was one of thoes Serpa Holster..

Or a Desk Pop done wrong..

Where is MCRPC? Never heard of that before...is it a club or a range too?

No such thing. Any gun you own or control should be able to magically fire AT ANY TIME and not hit anyone. If the gun was aimed at a foot, it's negligence.

He didnt say anything about this shooting all he spoke of was the difference between :"Accidental Discharge" and "Negligent Discharge" Even if the rules are followed precisely and there are no injuries, The fiream still Discharges, and sometimes those really ARE caused by malfunctions of the firearm.

Was it a GLOCK????? :) Just kiddin, that is the Fire Academy & Mon Co Police Academy has a range there. Hope he/she is all right

Perhaps Brick cop? I think their safety manual instructs then to: rack the slide, drop the mag, pull the trigger and call 911. LOL. So far I think three of them have shot themselves in the leg trying to clean their Glocks.
