Very cool, they are some tough chicks. I'm glad the made it safe and within their goal. Now the question is how long will it take them to get home?

They are gonna take it easy.  2 days of 750 miles each day.  You know, NBD, LOL.

 

 

Only 2600 people have ever documented this ride, and less than 100 women have ever done it.

I know the Iron Butt thing isn't for everyone, but we enjoy the challenge.

They got a late start, headed out into thunderstorm, had headwinds the entire way, 40 degree temperature swings, riding 15 hours in the dark, credit cards not working at some stations, a dead battery, lost top case and offroading to get off the interstate and grab gas, they had their share of challenges. This was no midsummer, out for a cruise ride. These two EARNED it.

And lets not forget Minna rode her first SaddleSore (1,000 miles in 24 hours) 4 months ago, Kate has been riding 2 years, and she is a diabetic. But beyond that, no big deal, really.

I am so proud of these two.

Kate finished 1505 miles in 23:55
Minna did 1504 miles in 23:57

I may be the wet hen here but driving that far in so few hours on public rounds sounds irresponsible and dangerous to themselves and other people on the road. Moreso on a motorcycle.

 

More so then the just completed Cannonball 2013, averaging a 98 mph for 29 hours?

Congratulations to the two ladies!  I've often thought of doing an iron butt ride, but 500 - 600 miles per day seems to be my limit lately.

 

By the way Millsan, it was nice meeting you at Hunter a few weeks ago.  Or should I call you Captain America?  LOL.

Neither one of these is what I would call a "touring" bike, as per the Goldwing type bikes that are build for this.

 

Doing this ride with the limited wind protection of those little bikes, is REALLY Impressive.

Very cool congrats.. I had though about doing the smaller ride a fews times but no of my bike were ever comfortable enough to even try my longest was only just over 400 miles and I was stiff afterwards...

The LD riding thing can be fun.

 

It is not about bragging, it is about proving to yourself you can accomplish the goal.

 

The girls are feeling great and working their way back.

 

They appreciate all the positive support from you all, as do I.

Almost half home it looks like, Should have nice weather to finish up in.

 

Which SPOT is she using? On long trips I use and leave it on 24/7, change the batteries daily. Figure if the bike gets stolen I'll be able to track it for a bit.

She has a spot 2.  We use the Long Life Lithium Ion batteries and those are good for about 72 hours.  Regular batteries get drained much quicker.

The newest SPOT can be hooked up to 12volt power that would serve me well. FYI, it doesn't need a clear view to work. I keep mine in the tourpak
