jermz1987 243 Posted November 20, 2013 So, Lets discuss Bug Out Bags. Do you have one? What do you keep in it? What type of bag do you have? DirtyDigz 1,812 Posted November 20, 2013 Question - have you actually tested out the Eton/radio charger and used it to charge a very low/dead cell phone?
jermz1987 243 Posted November 20, 2013 Question - have you actually tested out the Eton/radio charger and used it to charge a very low/dead cell phone? I tried it out a little. When my phone died at work I tried it out when I got home. I was able to get a bar after cranking for a few minutes. Not ideal but in an emergency it could be helpful. PeteF 1,044 Posted November 20, 2013 Need a holster. Absolutely. The bag packed that way looks like a recipe for a ND. Lightstick could easily get in the trigger guard while carrying the bag. Duct Tape, don't leave home without it.
Vlad G 345 Posted November 20, 2013 Not enough spare dry socks. Not kidding. No toilet paper. No Mole skin No water container No holster No fixed blade knife No rain gear No cordage (and I include ducttape there) Those are simple, low tech, non-sexy things that matter more. You should go on a overnight hike in the woods with nothing but your kit, and not on a perfect day and night weather.
jermz1987 243 Posted November 20, 2013 I have a Holster, I have a fixed blade knife. I also have para cord. This is just a small bag. I am still working on the items. I have a larger bag comming that will hold a lot more..
Hops 0 Posted November 21, 2013 Shouldn't a bug out bag have shoulder straps so you dont have to carry it with your hands? Backpack?
jermz1987 243 Posted November 21, 2013 Its has a strap.

pjd832 146 Posted November 21, 2013 It must be the nj compliant version ...based on the bright orange rape whistle in place of an actual weapon....but who would one be summoning with it during a "bug out"? Lol

Lol Actually, the description for the whistle sounds pretty good: 5-in-1 Emergency Whistle Great for auto emergencies or outdoor survival Signal whistle Waterproof match container (matches NOT included) Compass with luminous dial Signal mirror Flint fire starter Includes lanyard

Lol to be honest, if ever a situation really arose that we all HAD to bug out, who really cares if it's nj compliant or not at that point?

Hooligan 0 Posted November 23, 2013 Several ways to start fires so far but why no Bic lighters? They are small and can start a lot of fires without fussing with matches or strikers. Seems like they should have a place in any kit, no?

Old Glock guy 1,127 Posted November 23, 2013 to be honest, if ever a situation really arose that we all HAD to bug out, who really cares if it's nj compliant or not at that point? All right, I hate to be the party pooper, but that's definitely not true. There could be plenty of good reasons to evacuate that would not be WORL situations (like Superstorm Sandy, as an example). And in the state of NJ, carrying a handgun (or any loaded gun, for that matter) compliant or not, would put you at risk for a felony arrest.

seamusSU 0 Posted November 24, 2013 Sprinkle some on leaves, twigs and etc... Good to have. Anyone here have a ziplock bag of dryer lint? Why carry a bag of trash (lint) when you can use something that has many purposes: tampon/pads. If you have a lady that you would be bugging out with you will probably want to have them for the customary purpose but they also work very well as wound dressings and can be good tinder when shredded
jermz1987 243 Posted November 24, 2013 Yeah I moved my photos to a seperate folder on my photobucket and I guess that means it lost the link. Ill put the pictures back up when I get home from work where photobucket isnt blocked.
