InFamous 311 Posted September 5, 2014 What's everyone's go to 9mm ammo around a $12-$15/50 round price? I've been slowly stocking up on PMC Bronze 124 Grain. I've also seen some good reviews on Fiocchi.. My wife picked up some Blazer Brass... Also my Father sent me a link awhile back to get some Magtech mega cheap which I didn't get a chance to order...wish I did... So, what's the general consensus? I'm not asking for stopping power, I'm inquiring about clean range ammo. One of the guns I'll be shooting at the range is a HK P7 which gets dirty easily, so want some clean ammo which is why I've been grabbing PMC when I can. I've been told it's nice ammo for a P7. For HD I already have Hornady Critical Duty.
effd27145 0 Posted September 5, 2014 My own reloads 124gn 9mm with 5.3 gn power pistol currently. I'm not saving crazy amounts reloading 9mm, but I enjoy doing it so its worth the time to me. But when I'm at home I have 115gn Hornady Critical Defense loaded.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
InFamous 311 Posted September 5, 2014 Reloads aren't a choice at this time Just not enough room to even consider it, when I move that's a different story
DSD1026 48 Posted September 5, 2014 For plinking/range shooting, I use whatever i can get that's cheap(ish). Freedom Munitions, GA Arms, High Country are all decent... I also have some Blazer, AE, Rem UMC, Fiocchi, Herters Select, Magtech, PPU... At places like Freedom Munitions or High Country (or LAX or Ventura), you can usually get their commercial reloads for less than $12/50... Havent had an issue with any of the brands I mentioned. For HD, I have some Critical Duty, Critical Defense & Fed Hydra-Shok. (my HD 9mm's are loaded with Critical Duty)
NYMetsFan86 9 Posted September 5, 2014 freedom munitions is what I shoot mostly. I have used magtech and was very happy with it. Hornady critical defense at home

bry@n 195 Posted September 5, 2014 I generally use Speer, federal and pmc. On a side note, I have some 9mm I'm selling. $255. / per 1k. So $12.75 box. Listing it now.
Old School 611 Posted September 5, 2014 I generally use Speer, federal and pmc. On a side note, I have some 9mm I'm selling. $255. / per 1k. So $12.75 box. Listing it now. This ammo is a good deal! OP - Any of the ammo you have listed should be fine. I don't understand "your pistol runs dirty" ? Edit! - I see your pistol is gas delayed blow back. Now I see your concern. Sorry, there are better designs out there.
T Bill 649 Posted September 5, 2014 SQUEEZE! Ok, do to the nature of the gas system, to get the most out of the pistol you are going to have to experiment with different types of ammo. You need to find the one that burns clean and fastest to minimize the amount of particulates that work its way into the gas system. Low ball, cheap dime store ammo will not be good for this pistol (plain lead heads included). I am not quite sure even PMC is clean and fast enough. Start with the ammo that produces the least amount of smoke out the barrel and put it on the keeper list. Dump the others. Not sure if 115 or 124 grains are your best bet either. Check the bore after firing to see if there is unburned powder lining the bore. If so, not good. The P7M13 was a NJSP favorite I believe for a while and I cannot recall the brand of ammo used. Winchester Ranger comes to mind but not sure. Anyway, low smoke and fast burn will be your best bet with this pistol.
45Doll 5,881 Posted September 5, 2014 Freedom Munitions 124 gr. RN 9mm reloads are selling for .2112 cents/round (the equivalent of 10.56 per box), with free shipping. (Ending today) I have used these for two years with no problems. I've also shot all the others the OP listed, except for the Hornady, with no issues either. They just cost more. bry@n 195 Posted September 5, 2014 Freedom munitions are reloads aren't they? If so, it's pretty hard to compare them with any manufacturers ammo. As far as 115 vs. 124 gr bullets, mist f not all guns are made to use with a 124gr bullet. NATO specs are 124gr bullet and only people in the USA use 115gr bullets. Bullet weight between the two is more of a point of impact concern
bry@n 195 Posted September 5, 2014 Ironically, the ammo I'm selling is cleanfire ammo.
45Doll 5,881 Posted September 5, 2014 Freedom munitions are reloads aren't they? If so, it's pretty hard to compare them with any manufacturers ammo. Isn't that exactly what I do every time I shoot them at the range? I've shot several thousand FM reload rounds of all the major pistol calibers and not seen any noticeable difference in performance, accuracy or cleanliness. (I haven't made a scientific study out of it, or done bench rest comparisons; just my observations.) I haven't had any significant performance issues with the factory rounds either. One distinct recollection is that Magtech .45 was probably the dirtiest ammo I've ever shot. But it performed well, and i had no problem cleaning up after it. So for me, when making the choice between factory and FM reloads, price is still an important factor. The last time I ordered 1,500 rounds in 9, 40 and 45. With free shipping and the brass credit program my average cost per round dropped to .1703 cents. That gets my attention. Additional note: If you think 'reloads' from FM means 10 guys running hand presses, not. Go to their website and view their manufacturing videos and pictures. They're using the same type commercial processing and press equipment the big boys do. They also build ammo with new brass. Their new version of 9mm 124 gr. is currently .2195 a round before any shipping or brass credits.
Shawnmoore81 623 Posted September 5, 2014 I usually have pmc or lawman
InFamous 311 Posted September 5, 2014 All great input so far. Also, the P7 isn't going to be my main range gun anyway but I want ammo I can shoot with it and not gum it up too quickly.
Candyman87 10 Posted September 5, 2014 A lot of Winchester White box here across all calibers (I really like the brass for reloading) but also use PMC, Remington UMC and American Eagle regularly. I'll buy Magtech and PPU if it's on sale for a good price too. When you get around $0.20 a round, I'm pretty comfortable with extra cleaning.

I'd in shooting reloads, I'll make them myself.
bhunted 887 Posted September 5, 2014 Lax Ammo 9mm 115 gr and 230 gr 45acp...
RecessedFilter 222 Posted September 5, 2014 I shoot anything and everything. It doesn't matter if it's brass cased or steel cased, I usually buy whatever is cheapest. I haven't bought 9'mm in a while but I did stock up on some Privi a month ago when it was like $10 a box. I don't feel there is any reason to be picky for plinking/training ammo as long as it functions well. Self defense ammo is a different story since you need to trust your life with it. I like critical defense/duty but my favorite is Winchester Ranger.
Blake 50 Posted September 6, 2014 Prefer speer 124gr but will shoot whatever I have. I dont have a single 9mm thats picky except my sub2k
