Hello from Ocean County

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody, I live at the border of ocean and monmouth counties. I just got a Gen 2 kel tec sub 2000, and I don't know anyone that owns a gun. I'm also probably going to jump right into reloading. I hope to learn a lot about firearms and shooting them from the members of this forum. Please be patient with a newbie !

They are very hard to find. It doesn't seem like there are more than a few thousand that were released yet. They are mostly seen in Florida. I did hear of a few being seen in Pa. I got mine online from a guy that didn't know it was a Gen 2. I'm still in middle of making it NJ compliant. It's a pain in the neck, and really you can buy the Gen 2 foregrip and with a few mods put it on the Gen 1.

Well unfortunately I'm pretty tight financially now, and I can't afford shore shot or the new brick armory. So my plan is to go check out the $4 fort dix range even though it's pretty far from me. I don't know what the local ordinance laws are, but maybe I'll find someone that shoots on their property that would let me join them.

I recently saw a Gen 1 on buds. .40 s&w for about $375. They lasted a couple of hours. I also saw Gen 2's twice on cdnn, but they sell out really quickly.

      Hi everyone!
I'm new to this forum and new to this type of site in general! I like to participate in social shooting events, so there may be a chance we've met. I'm pretty "out of the closet" as far as my love of shooting and firearms goes. I got a pretty late start to my introduction to firearms, as I've only been shooting for the past 8 years or so but I've been diligently trying to make up for lost time. I became a certified instructor so I can introduce family and friends to the shooting sports in a safe and knowledgeable way. I try to be a good "ambassador" of the second amendment and exemplify a warm and welcoming face! I hope to be able to contribute whatever insight I have to this forum.
Oh, and I like shotguns. A lot.

      Hello everyone.

I've had my FID card for a couple of years, but didn't apply for a handgun permit until this spring. It took a few months (accept or reject within 30 days "is more what you'd call 'guidelines' than actual rules, welcome aboard"  ), but I now have one in hand and plan to make a purchase before the month is up (hopefully my choice will be back in stock soon). I found NJGF while researching a variety of related topics and it's already been a great help, like cluing me into a sale I was unaware of, so I decided to register.

      Hello All,

Just joined the forum after peeking in on it from time to time. Looking forward to interacting with like minded individuals on here. Coming from a Gun Friendly State (Nevada) and moving back to NJ (originally from Clifton), i work in NYC and live around a lot of Anti 2nd Amendment people in Hasbrouck Heights, it gets fustrating to say the least. Looking forward to absorbing some wisdom and having spirted conversations with you guys.

    • I use an Alien Gear cloak tuck (IWB) with my Shield.  Neoprene back - in the summer it does feel warm but doesn't rub or chafe.   https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-iwb-holster.html Could also go with the shapeshift as it has multiple options - OWB/IWB, Appendix... https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-shapeshift-modular-holster-system.html
    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
