I am so glad I bought my last gun in Michigan, (this past Monday)NICs took all of 2 seconds.

Sent from my XT1080

Same in FL yesterday. The problem is NJ doesn't have FFLs contact the fbi direct;y, thus the crap hours and turn around time. In FL you can get a NICS on a Sunday.

Most states go direct to the fbi for NICS. NJ dealers go through the state to get the data. Dumb, bad service and fewer hours.

Texas is one state I can think of that doesn't require NICS with a CCW. Florida has NICS but no waiting period with cwp. I bought a gun at a dealer midday Sunday and took it home.

I can attest to the TX reference...my last gun, I just filled out the 4473, showed my LTC, paid the man $10 for his transfer fee (He charges $15 if he has to run NICS) and walked out the door.

I'm waiting for the PD to call and tell me my permits are ready to pick up. I have a VP9 sitting at Hackettstown Guns and Ammo waiting for me to come get. Guess it doesn't really matter they didn't call today cause I wouldn't have been able to bring it home regardless lol. Next day I can get there is Saturday morning so hopefully they'll be caught up by then cause I got my sons Birthday party at 1pm.

just got my approval  2 hours and 43 minutes

Not as bad, hopefully I get the call for my permits and I can pick up my VP9 Saturday and the wait will be back down to 20ish minutes. I won't have a lot of time Saturday morning before my kids party.

I was told some NICS checks went thru fast, but some took a few hours.  I guess maybe I got lucky?

I'm sure it'll go back to normal soon.  A lot of people are getting sick these days, which was part of the reason why my permits took a bit longer than expected.  Maybe a person or two are out at the office

Go early as possible on Saturday. They back up quickly as this is usually the busiest day of the week for them.

    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
