JCH 18 Posted July 19, 2016 Just wondering what everyone else is seeing in the Cabela's catalog you get via postal mail. If I recall about 3 years ago when I would get my catalog from Cabela's it usually had hand guns, shot guns and rifles for sale but I noticed that for the past 1-1/2 to 2 years there are no guns for sale except for black powder muzzle loaded guns, they still show ammo, scopes, reloading tools, et. though. Am I getting a different catalog than the rest?
Vlad G 345 Posted July 19, 2016 Cabela's MAIN catalogs don't have guns that can't be sold directly to you via mail. After all it is a mail order catalog. In most state the black powder stuff can be shipped to your door, but actual guns can not. Why would they put something in the catalog that you can not easily order? Their sales fliers about what is on sale in stores this week or next month most definitely include all sorts of guns.
gski1 3 Posted July 19, 2016 Just as an FYI, you can purchase long guns or handguns at a Cabela's store location to be shipped to a local NJ FFL for transfer as long as the standard capacity is no more than 15 rounds. They will not sell NJ citizens any handgun that has a 16 or more round magazine.
W2MC 1,699 Posted July 19, 2016 you're right....no modern guns. They do, however, have 17 pages of ammunition, 11 pages of reloading equipment & components, 4 pages of AR accessories, 7 pages of holsters, etc etc etc

They do an online check then fill fill out a NJ COE for you.

And your price on the hang-tag is your price out the door. No sales tax and the NICS call is free!!
Joe P. 4 Posted July 19, 2016 Unfortunately , i think Bass Pro is in the process of buying Cabela's now ... am i correct in assuming we won't be ordering any more ammo from Cabela's in the near future due to Bass Pro's shitty NJ ammo policy?

I'm aware of that but they use to have not just the black powder stuff in their catalogs (Not the main catalog, just the one I get every couple of months via USPS) back then so you could go to their store and purchase at least the rifles or shot guns on sale at their store. I went to the PA one a few weeks ago and they told me they flat out won't sell any firearms to any one residing in NJ. Maybe I misunderstood the sales guy. JCH 18 Posted July 20, 2016 Wait...... Really? I tried to buy a ras47 a couple of months ago and was told no because I was a NJ resident. That's kind of the same response I got as well, the sales guy didn't give me a chance to say what I wanted to purchase. It was a semi auto Remington 12 gage that would be legal in NJ. Lambo2936 297 Posted July 20, 2016 Bass pro refuses to do so. Therefore i dont give them my business. If Cabelas no longer sells to NJ residents they wont be getting any more of my business either. They have a great selection but their prices arent amazing.
TOMMY R 24 Posted July 20, 2016 Cabela's in Delaware & PA you can also purchase any long gun on a Sunday
JCH 18 Posted July 29, 2016 So I stopped by the PA Cabela's tonight and asked another sales rep in the gun department what NJ residents can purchase and here is what he told me, Shot guns and rifles are fine but that they did not have any NJ complient ARs or semi autos in stock and hand guns would have to go to a NJ FFL. So then I went to customer service and asked why the seasonal mail catalogs I'm getting do not have shot guns, rifles or hand guns for sale or on special like they use to, they did not know why. Cabela's in Delaware often carries NJ compliant versions of some of their rifles. They absolutely still sell to Jersey residents. I bought one there 3 weeks ago. They don't use NJ NICS so there is never a wait and open on Sundays.
Ricky_Bobby 130 Posted July 29, 2016 ^Which I love x1000 - If I don't get a rifle soon, I will in Sept when I go down to NC, on the way back home stop in DE store I'm sure around mid-end September it will be rifle buying frenzy as the campaign trail heats up
JackDaWack 2,895 Posted July 29, 2016 I bought my A400 up at the store in Maine, even they had the process down to sell to a NJ resident, COE and everything.
