fishnut 2,358 Posted January 4, 2020 Ribs should NOT fall of the bone. They should be tender and easy to take a bite without all the meat coming off the bone all at once. Also they only should be cooked on a smoker 2 2

As for the instant pot? Meh ... nothing a good old fashioned dutch oven and low oven can't do. 1

Meh ... nothing a good old fashioned dutch oven and low oven can't do. Instant pot is great for what it is. A combination sauté/crock pot and pressure cooker. Can do some good and quick meals with it. Key when you have work/school/sport schedules.

That's kinda insta-pot's thing, a heart attack free pressure cooker any idiot can use. My mother and grandmother used stove top pressure cookers, they were frightening. It sometimes sounded like there was a small war going on inside those things. Not once did they blow up, as I was sure they would.

Displaced Texan 11,751 Posted January 5, 2020 When the power goes out, that insta-pot is a piss pot. I can cook over open fires with my Dutch oven.

JohnnyB 4,326 Posted January 6, 2020 These new electronic pressure cookers are much like the microwave when they first came out. My parents swore it was just wrong to cook with radiation....They soon changed their tune and the Instapots will soon be everyone's go to method!

However I'll NEVER put ribs in it. I wont put ribs in my Dutch oven either. Ribs only go in the smoker then my belly
Displaced Texan 11,751 Posted January 6, 2020 Dutch oven is for chili, gumbo, stews...maybe meatballs. I’ve heard people bake bread in them, although I never have myself. It AINT for ribs....and neither is a crock pot. 1
