They released the trailer for The Walking Dead show:

That is awesome. I hadn't read a comic book in years, but I picked the first issue up on a friend's recommendation. They are great reading. There are no sentimental, happy endings. It is the brutal, relentless reality of survival and death in a zombie world.

Yeah - I'm pretty excited for TWD. I think the last time I got this excited for a show it was Jericho. Hopefully it has a more successful run.

Same here - I think it had been over 15 years since I picked up a comic, and then someone on another forum recommended it so I figured why not. Once you start reading it, it sucks you in.. .and now here I am reading issue #64 during my lunch break

I have to wait longer. I pick up the collections. It takes a few months for new ones to come out since they are made up of three or four regular issues.

one thing I was thinking, they can't show everything from the comic. some of that stuff is way too gruesome. some of these scenes though, it's like they used the actual panels from the comic as the story board, I remember those panels.

Some of the early reports have been that the show is being pretty true to the comic. I agree tho - some of the stuff in the comic is brutal and it'll be interesting to see how it plays out on TV.

I'm interested to see how much gets covered in the initial six episodes... and what characters get left out/rolled into others. Also interested to see the eventual casting... should be good. I was pretty psyched when I saw that Lennie James was cast (Jericho fans know who that is ;) ).

Haha, great title/attention grabber for an article about back up, emergency phones.

It is an interesting read though. I know we have plenty of radio hobbyists, and I'd like to eventually get accustomed to HAM radios. I've used SINCGAR, STU-III, and STE-- but the details still make my head spin. In the mean time, the idea of having a mobile, back up line, albeit not secure, is a solid idea that I'm surprised hasn't been discussed sooner... or is just one of those things people would rather not reveal (OPSEC reasons, etc). When I was in, I actually ran two phones-- my personal line and "Bat phone" for this exact reason.

I think there are still issues though having a back up phone that relies on the public lines. As noted, its not secure (though that's not really an issue for the civilian sector). Also, if the public lines are susceptible to interference, then so are the back up phones. There are plenty of other reasons I'm sure, I'm just not a communications specialist.

Just an interesting read, and it had some definitive ties with this thread

I'm not going to read through the 68 pages of the thread to see if it was mentioned but for those of us who believe in the coming zombie war you should all read the Zombie Survival guide written by Max Brooks and his other book World War Z. there actually pretty entertaining books I have them both lol.

Just for the record. By Zombies I assume you mean the hoards of confused Obama supporters that will be walking the streets dazed and confused mumbling that they were disenfranchised by a bunch of racists Republicans when their dear leader gets bounced out of the Whitehouse on his mulatto* ass come November 2012?

:hope:

*Just for the record, I hold nothing but contempt that Marxist ass's white half too... I don't want to hear any of that "you

We've been throwing ideas around for a while on this thread.

NJZS- New Jersey Zombie Squad

JZT- Jersey Zombie Team

I know, ha (I started on page 1 too), I was just inquiring if we had come to a consensus is all. It'd be kind of difficult for any designer to make something without a name or theme in place.
