The Pacific - starts 14 March!

Starting this Sunday, 14 March, the miniseries "The Pacific" will be on HBO!

 

Same producers and crew (Hanks/Spielberg) that brought us "Band of Brothers" (of the 101) will be showing the story of the Marines in the Pacific... and I'm personally psyched. BOB really inspired me, and I'm positive that "The Pacific" won't be anything near a let-down.

 

So, yes, TiVO, DVR, whatever-- this Sunday.

I hope it does for the boys in the Pacific side of WWII what all the movies and Band of Brothers did for their EU fighting brethren.

 

This should be some amazing stories if it's anything near the quality of their last series.

I'll probably end up buying the series just like I did with Band of Brother. I can watch that over and over again - great story.

Saw a few spots on the making of it and a 8 min block of a battle that I can't spell looked amazing BOB squared. Also home front scenes.

So far so good, although, I have to admit, the first episode didn't suck me in quite the same way the first episode of BoB did. Granted, my expectations are pretty high after having watched BoB a dozen times at least, so take that with a grain of salt.

I expected the first episode to be a little slow as they have to cover the start of the theatre before showing all the battles and what not.

Yeah, I thought it was going to be slow but it was really good. There is a lot of potential, and I know Ill be glued to the couch every Sunday evening for a while

I was expecting it to not be as good as Band of Brothers because I've always found the European action more interesting than the Pacific but it was actually every bit as good. Just sucks having to wait a week for another episode.
