vladtepes 1,060 Posted June 19, 2012 Not completely sure what im trying to do yet, just like to have options. I just bought the utg rail as a spur of the moment buy while i was at the store. I was thinking about getting a midwest industries rail system. Anyone know the quality of them? I have had rails on my AKs and found them clumsy and awkward.. I use an ultimak gas tube with rail.. lets me mount a red dot and a flashlight... I have personally found anything more than that overly heavy and slow.. Johnny 0 Posted July 11, 2012 Finished the conversion on my Saiga 7.62x39 last week and finally got to the range with it today. Only issue I came home with was the trigger not always returning fully. On about half of the shots I fired I had to click the trigger back slightly. Anyone have any ideas what may be causing this? I used the Tapco G2 single hook. Other than that it worked great and I am very happy with it. The conversion was not hard at all. I just took my time and had patience. I followed the videos on CarolinaShooterSupply and a watched a few others on youtube. Also used this site http://www.cross-con...iga_Conversion/ as well as the search feature on the Saiga Forum. All the info you need to do this is out there if you look. I saw a basic converted Saiga in a store when I first started looking at them and I felt the price was pretty high. I ended up building it exactly as I WANTED and did it for about $150 less. At the time I was told it would cost alot more than that to build my own but I can now say it did not. In fact I can put that money towards about 750 rds.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us check the spring... you may have to bend the legs of the spring a little.. take dust cover off and fire gun (safely) observe fire control group.. Turbotezza 1 Posted July 11, 2012 Make sure that both legs of the spring are hooked on the trigger bar, if one slips off the problem you describe could happen.

iRace559 0 Posted December 9, 2012 Here is my Saiga 7.62. It started off as a plain Jane CAI convert. Ordered a few goodies, did some work with the Dremel, and here's how she sits. Its hard as hell No I haven't I was planning on sending my bolt out for polishing, maybe to this guy: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/61900-paulys-glassbolt-reliability-resistance-reduction-system/ I think that might cure that issue as well, I need to read more about it
H.M. Murdock 0 Posted January 15, 2013 I'm sending out the bolt tomorrow, it should come back like this (disregard the FCG): I also ordered this furniture, Birch laminate in Russian red (Ironwood Designs): In 2 months I should have one purty shotgun
Big Jay 0 Posted January 15, 2013 I see a few of you guys are sporting converted Saiga's with Saiga mags? Any reason why you didn't do the bullet guide conversion to accept AK mags? I did mine that way. Wouldn't mind helping anyone who's a little nervous about doing it.
H.M. Murdock 0 Posted January 16, 2013 I actually prefer the polymer SGM 15-round magazines in the Saiga. The 20->15 AK magazines are alright, no complaints. The 30->15 round AK magazines are a waste of space and make it diffiicult to shoot the rifle from the ground without a bipod I think a lot of us have the bullet guide and a slightly shaved catch so we can use both AK and Saiga magazines
