Wojo 98 Posted June 22, 2011 Awesome...what else do you need to prove a point? Those drums are probably the best low-tech item to show the actual shock-wave of what a human body / deer experiences as well. I remember my days in the USCG, we used to practice shooting 55 gal drums that we about half filled with water to practice shooting just below the water line with our Browning Ma Deuces'. The idea was to rip holes into the engine compartment and flood it...they will stop when enough water gets in there. When you walked your rounds into the sweet spot, you know when you hit the drum because it use to launch upwards out of the water and then settle back down. That used to be some fun training. Thanks for sharing.

Tactical Monkey 51 Posted June 23, 2011 Would of been interesting to see a .45 ACP... Nice vid though!
axeman_g 128 Posted June 23, 2011 They did not show the .45acp because it did not penetrate and rebounded off the side of the barrel to fall meekly into the grass.
Shane45 807 Posted June 23, 2011 Makes me miss my 338 and my
david8613 69 Posted June 24, 2011 would a .50 caliber pistol like a desert eagle do similar damage or alot less damage because of barrel length and velocities?
Krdshrk 3,878 Posted June 24, 2011 I'd say less. It's a .50 AE round compared to .50 BMG. Comparison of sizes.
Shane45 807 Posted June 24, 2011 FAAAAAR less. Muzzle energy of 50 ae is around 1400ft/lbs, 50 bmg is around 15,000. 338LM is around 5000.
david8613 69 Posted June 24, 2011 DAM! that .50 bmg looks like a nuclear missle next to the other rounds, were does the 7.62x39 fit in that line up?
Krdshrk 3,878 Posted June 24, 2011 In between .223 and .

vjf915 456 Posted June 25, 2011 In between .223 and .308 This. 7.62x39 is about as tall as the .223, and almost as wide as the .308.
